SFREP and 3.6

It is unclear to me why some think use of a tablet inherently means longer inspection time. That was not my experience.

Maybe a longer inspection time by standing there clicking through several dropdowns for every room, but a shorter report writing time. If AI could be trusted, it would take care of the manual input while on site.

Yup. Drop downs are double the number of clicks compared to check boxes or pills. And it's not only the extra click. You have to click, move the mouse and then click, and the moving the mouse part requires precision to select the correct item.
They should at least be arrow key navigable (they might be, have you tried)?

The tab key! Tab Key to jump to different spaces and places.... at least that works in a lot of other software.

No. I haven't tried much of anything. Just mentioning general thoughts about drop downs.

I completely agree. I have been using Total for Mobile for nearly 2 decades. It doesn't increase inspection times. Ironically the people that think it increases inspection times are the people that haven't used other or they use once than give up. Sure the first 4 or 5 times it may increase time. But in the long run there is no difference. And especially when I can now simply talk notes into it. And the time it saves at the desktop is huge.

Just curious...with total for mobile, do you input/create the sketch through that application? Can it be done with an android, or have to be apple Lidar? Thanks

Right now I do it within the application. There is a sketching program that you basically do it like you would on your desktop sketching program…type in the numbers, angles, label the rooms, etc. Total is working on a LIDAR program. I haven’t used it since it is kind of in the beta stage and I just don’t want to mess with it. As to whether you can use android for LIDAR I’m not sure. I would just call up alamode and ask. I originally started with Total for Mobile using a PDA. Then when smart phones and IPADS came out I only used Apple products I am all things Apple (except I use Roku for TV).

The sketching program in Mobile is pretty robust. I can do all kinds of angles, curves, etc. And as I said either here or somewhere else I find it easier to used the Mobile sketch than the desktop sketching.

I usually have the sketch to the nearest foot from public records or builder plans before I inspect, so all that I really need to do is add or subtract that 0.1 here and there.

Is it easy to modify an existing sketch in TOTAL Mobile like I described?
