All Solar, Et Al, In 12 Years?

yup
always fixing something that isn't broke, while breaking things along the way.

If you recall some of the completely asinine statements Trenberth made in addition Climategate emails from him fretting that they needed a warmer winter than they had because it was "too cold" to fit the model. This alarmed his little buddies to the point they were emailing him and telling him to STFU.

15,000 years ago the Missoula Ice Dam created by the receding Ice ages broke repeatedly and perhaps up to 15 times filled, then drained across Washington state in flooding that is obvious today but was rounded criticized by "better" scientists of the day. They were not won over easily but had to acquiesce after the obvious facts were overwhelming them.

Today contrarian ideas opposed to global warming are met with the same sort of pig headed attitudes to the point that they try to take some sort of legal action against it. Time will reveal the truth and at this point no one knows what new ideas will emerge.

Economies collapsing, Middle East imploding – and Obama & Pals obsess over … the climate!

Pope Francis nevertheless plans to meet with President Obama September 23, to discuss “dangerous manmade climate change” and how to ensure “preferential treatment of the poor,” by building “clean” energy economies and stopping “carbon pollution.”

By denying the world’s poorest people energy, jobs and economic growth, this agenda will sentence them to perpetual poverty, disease and early death. By mandating the use of biofuels, wind turbines and solar panels, it will turn food into fuel, increase malnutrition, convert wildlife habitats into enormous inefficient energy facilities, and kill countless millions of birds and bats.

The pope and president dismiss these impacts. They insist that climate change is a far worse problem, and that modern energy, housing and living standards for the world’s poor would not be “sustainable.” They believe “morality,” “climate justice” and “preferential treatment” mean protecting people from hypothesized, exaggerated and fabricated climate disasters 25, 50 or 100 years from now – by destroying millions of jobs and keeping the world’s poor energy-deprived and impoverished now and in perpetuity.

The agenda being driven by President Obama, Pope Francis, the UN and Climate Crisis, Inc. means our huddled masses will be forced to share ever-greater scarcity, ever-lower living standards, ever-fewer jobs and opportunities. But of course it all will be apportioned “fairly and equitably” – by ruling elites and their cronies, whose desk jobs, six-figure salaries and upper crust life styles will be protected by the same executive powers they employ to protect the planet from climate raptors and hobgoblins.

Of course, who can resist the refrain, do it for the children.

I tried to read this thread(all 333 post). My head is swimming.

So ,my easy answer for Climate change is simple. We need one or two Pandemics. That should give us sufficient time to advance technology enough to save the planet.

Depopulating the planet is part of the plan although not openly advocated, the outcome of these policies will have negative consequences and where electricity cannot be economically produced, it won't. Refrigeration of food caused many diseases to vanish and the population to explode. Those areas of the world without electricity are the cradle of diseases.

The earth can not sustain 3, 4, 5 , 6 or whatever billion people you want to pick. Its not openly advocated because that is a huge alarm bell and all the other stuff will become irrelevant(or at least secondary). Survival of the fittest will prevail.

Before a Pandemic hits we will likely have a third world war then as a result the pandemic will come soon after. Global weather change; most likely.

How to Lower U.S. Living Standards
Sept. 21, 2015

The drastic ‘80 by 50’ goal would reduce the energy use of Californians to that of North Koreans today.

California Gov. Jerry Brown has a vision: When it comes to greenhouse-gas emissions, he wants his fellow Californians to emulate North Koreans. Meanwhile, many of Mr. Brown’s fellow Democrats—including President Obama, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders—will settle for putting Americans on a par with residents of Mexico.

That’s the essence of the climate-change agenda of America’s most prominent Democrats. They have pledged to cut carbon-dioxide emissions by 80% by 2050, (aka 80 by 50). Their plan will take those emissions to levels that are common today in countries far poorer than the U.S.

Earlier this month, by a margin of two votes, the California Assembly rejected SB 32, a bill that would have required the state to achieve 80 by 50. Pushing this bill was the state’s Democratic leadership, including Gov. Brown, Senate President Kevin de León, and the state’s U.S. senators, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein. President Obama has repeatedly endorsed 80 by 50. In early 2009, he said he was setting “a goal for our nation that we will reduce our carbon pollution by more than 80 percent by 2050.”

With the exception of Virginia’s former Sen. Jim Webb, all of the candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for president have called for 80 by 50. Mrs. Clinton endorsed 80 by 50 during her first run for the White House. In 2013, Mr. Sanders joined Ms. Boxer to introduce an 80-by-50 bill. In 2014, Martin O’Malley issued an executive order while governor of Maryland endorsing 80 by 50.

All of this overlooks an essential question: What would 80 by 50 mean for individuals? According to the International Energy Agency, the world per capita average for carbon-dioxide emissions is 4.51 tons a year. Residents of California are responsible for the emission of about twice that amount, 9.42 tons a year. Assuming that the state population doesn’t increase, an 80% cut means the average Californian would be emitting 1.88 tons by 2050.

In other words, those future Californians will be asked to emit less carbon dioxide than do current residents of North Korea. In 2012, according to the IEA, the average North Korean was responsible for 1.83 tons of carbon dioxide. Per capita GDP in North Korea: $1,800 a year.

Achieving 80 by 50 on a national basis will be similarly painful. In 2012 per capita carbon dioxide emissions in the U.S. totaled 16.15 tons. Achieving 80 by 50 would mean each resident of the U.S.—where per capita GDP is $54,600 a year—would emit 3.23 tons annually. That’s less than Mexicans, who emit 3.72 tons and have a per capita GDP of about $10,400 a year.

How might 80 by 50 work? Wind and solar energy can’t do the trick. Even ignoring their gargantuan land-use requirements, their incurable intermittence, and the fact that we can’t store large quantities of electricity, those two forms of energy production cannot provide the enormous amounts of energy we need at prices we can afford. James Hansen, one of America’s highest-profile climate scientists, has made that point, saying that “renewable energies are grossly inadequate for our energy needs now and in the foreseeable future.”

Nuclear energy is doing more to cut carbon-dioxide emissions than any other form of energy, but Democratic politicians and their allies at Greenpeace and the Sierra Club refuse to even mention it. A recent Gallup poll found that only 24% of Democratic voters support nuclear energy.

What would 80 by 50 cost? None of the Democrats has provided a cost estimate, but we can get an idea by looking at Germany, which has set a goal of getting 80% of its energy from renewables by 2050.

Germany has already spent $100 billion on subsidies for renewables and its environment minister, Peter Altmaier, has estimated that hitting its 80 by 50 target will require spending another $1.3 trillion over the next two decades. The U.S. economy is four times as large as Germany’s, and U.S. energy consumption is seven times as large. Reaching 80 by 50 in the U.S. would likely cost more than $5 trillion. For reference, the cost of ObamaCare over the next decade is projected at $1.2 trillion.

In short, America’s highest-profile Democrats, including the leading contenders for the White House, have endorsed a climate agenda that will cost far more than ObamaCare. Yet not one of them or their green allies have provided a credible plan—meaning one that doesn’t include lots of nuclear energy—for achieving such draconian reductions without wrecking the economy. These Democrats can’t provide a scenario for achieving 80 by 50—a plan that is affordable and technically viable—for a simple reason: Such a scenario doesn’t exist.

People wonder why incomes are falling and the economy can't sustain 2% GDP growth.

I really like the idea of Californians reduced to the income level of North Korea: $1,800 a year. But we will have cleaner air and fewer people, all driving electric cars in the daytime and hurrying home before sundown when electric power will be unavailable.

Carbon dioxide is a natural emission of most animals. Quite awhile ago I read where a looney wanted us to eat less beef. There thinking revolved around two emissions CO2 and methane. More people and animals expelling more CO2 and CH4 http://www3.epa.gov/climatechange/ghgemissions/gases/ch4.html

When you think about it, if this is true, then why are we putting so much effort into other emissions. Maybe its the whole package.

By the way increased use of electrical devices creates another atmospheric pollution; Ozone!

So what I do support is more efficient use of hydrocarbons which brings about less emissions.

NGas furnaces are very efficient. I have heard numbers as high as 98% Producing mostly water vapor. Up in yankee land they still use tremendous amounts of fuel oil. Tax the Crap out of them. Instead of fuel subsidies like they do now. Especially Massachusetts.

Adding an additional 6-12 inches of insulation(fiber glass) in every house in the US would go a long way to reducing emissions, because we simply wont use as much.

Dual system Heat Pump/Ngas systems are amazingly efficient. WE could sell this to other countries.

Hydroelectric is good but the Sierra Club goes crazy. Maybe we should just kill them off. :-)

But we will have cleaner air and fewer people, all driving electric cars in the daytime and hurrying home before sundown when electric power will be unavailable.
Ever heard of storage batteries?!:rof: That concept of cleaner air is a conundrum--who wants to breathe what you can see?

HYPOCRITES:

People who buy water in plastic( bottles by the case load). Don't believe me go to your super market and look at the isle with bottled water. I buy one bottle and re-fill it at my tap. When the bottle begins to decay(thanks to environmentalist) I get another one and begin refilling it. I suppose I should do more by buying a more durable water bottle. My BAD! Slap me on the hand.

Plastic Bags for Groceries: Paper or plastic they ask. I don't want either. Put it in my basket I will put it in my trunk and haul it home that way. I get more exercise walking from car to kitchen several trips.

Millenials, yuppies, Gen-ex all buying Prius. Where is the solar Charging system on a Prius for when it sits idle in your drive or anywhere outside? Answer no where. All they have is a solar panel to run your A/C so the cabin is not to hot for your pansy butt.

There is a company that has developed a Solar Power recharge for the Prius. Cost about 6,000 bucks for the retrofit.
