Is your stupid study sense tingling? Oxford researchers conclude Spider-Man could NOT have superpowers following bizarre research on superhero
  • Researchers say silk threads don't seem thick enough to hold Peter Parker
  • Spidey's spinning system is something not found in nature
  • Researcher will not be seeking funds to peruse study further

Not really climate related, but how can you pass up "stupid study senses tingling" for this thread?

.

Tenure must be a wonderful thing.

I did read it Marion and it seems that 97% don't agree with your "assumptions" that it's all just a conspiracy!:rof: Their point is that there are people like you who don't believe the science. It is clear what the majority of the science indicates but they need to somehow press upon the unbelievers the reality of the situation.

“If transitions back into positive, we’d see a resumption in these more rapid rates of global warming,” said Gerald Meehl, a climate scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. “Having that shift in the background base state means that the peaks of the El Nino are going to be higher.”

But global warming doesn't exist!!! :rof:

No, human emissions of CO2 does not cause global warming. El Nino existed before pre industrialization with periods of global warming and global cooling.

This El Nino is not as severe as they predicted. Guess there was not enough CO2. :rof:

"Cold, hot or dry: Persistent weather extremes associated with decreased storm activity"

I remember listening to Car Talk with Tommy and Ray, and they were talking about a car engine and probably Ray said that the gasoline engine was this complex bunch of metal that was essentially trying to destroy itself but if properly designed and operating it provided useful conversion of gasoline, oil, and air into motion to move a car down the road.

So, were stuck on this molten rock spinning at 1000 miles per hour, being bombarded by the off product of a nuclear reaction. Its developed a complex system of heating and cooling, I believe it uses spinning water vapor, sea plankton and vegetation, (I look at houses and type reports for a living) and most of the time it gets it right, but can get out of wack occasionally and its been remarkably self-correction for million to billions of years, but a reasonably functioning system. Be thankful for what we've got. If you want less human involvement in the way the earth 'machine' works, start with the obvious, population.

Don't confuse Pete. He has already made up his mind. It is all CO2 all the time and it is all global warming all the time.

We hope this little chart will help the kollektive to overcome stage fright and become more successful in the climate debating scene. Let us reiterate the talking points:

  1. Weather is what we can see and feel; climate is what the state and the prog-media tell us we ought to see and feel.
  2. Weather is measured in traditional layman units; climate is measured in Progressive Thermal Units (PTU).
  3. Weather historical data is public knowledge; climate historical data is classified, restricted to trained state climatologists only, and is subject to change without notice.

Ex-scientist James Hansen, who abandoned science as "just another corporate lie" and resigned from NASA after his plan to send cats to the center of the earth was shot down, has published a new, shattering, on-the-eve-of-the-Paris-conference-government-funded study in which he argues that Barack Obama is in fact an all-wise ancient space alien sent to earth many thousands of years ago by an all-wise race of ancient space aliens.

"He is here from ancient alien space to save humanity from climate change at the Paris climate conference," said ex-scientist Hansen. "Just listen to the man talk. Have you ever noticed he always talks to us earthlings like he is God speaking from on-high to simpletons? Like he's smarter than everybody else? That's because he's an ancient space alien sent here thousands of years ago to save us from climate change at the Paris conference."

For his proof he has produced numerous ancient artifacts purporting to be pictures of ancient aliens one of which he claims is Obama's [O Ba Ma, as Hansen spells it] ancient real birth certificate. It is a hieroglyph of two alien-looking creatures and a small jug-eared baby creature wearing what appear to be space helmets or fish bowls depending on the angle of the viewer.

The study, which concludes all humanity should listen to and obey O Ba Ma about everything was funded by a generous pre-Paris conference government grant.

Apparently you have reading comprehension problems then. Maybe this will help you,

Copy and pasted from the article.

The point of contention is a peer-reviewed study published last year by Green, a chemistry professor at Michigan Technological University; John Cook, a research fellow at the Global Change Institute at the University of Queensland in Australia; and 10 other scientists who blog under the collective name of Skeptical Science.

The scientists examined 4,014 abstracts on climate change and found 97.2 percent of the papers assumed humans play a role in global warming (ClimateWire, May 16, 2013).

That statement quickly got boiled down in the popular media to a much simpler message: that 97 percent of scientists believe climate change is caused by humans. President Obama tweeted the 97 percent consensus. Comedian John Oliver did a segment on it that went viral on the Internet.

If 97 driveby appraisals assume the house at 123 Main Street is in C4 condition, that does not make the house at 123 Main Street C4 Condition.

Especially when the interior inspection reveals the house is in C6 condition and missing sub and top floors, electric, plumbing and sheet rock.

It also does not make the appraiser who performed the interior inspection wrong, because 97 other appraisers assumed something different.

You know what you get when you assume?

Nothing.
