Anyone ever use skins for your digital cameras?

I get no error code whatsoever. Am I looking in the wrong place for the error code? The screen tells me nothing.

Note: you are being paid adequetely for your services through appreciation. :)

I am going to do everyting I can to send her back to Canon on Monday (later today as they say) in hopes for a repairee or a newbie. I sincerely appreciate your input OSU.

I've taken the other route and consider the camera a temp asset.

I found a camera model which I like, then buy them used on ebay. Each camera lasts approx 6 mo before the flash goes out. I always carry a back up camera and keep 2+ spares at the office.

By using the same model, I've eliminated the learning curve and cost of accessories (i.e. memory card, cables, etc) when switching between cameras.

The used cameras cost approx $40 if you bid wisely. I get approx 50k photos out of each camera (a new camera is similar). This is much more cost effective for me than buying a new camera.

I've tried to find a repair manual describing how to repair the flash so I could continue to use or resell my disabled cameras, but the camera vendor refuses to provide the manual. It's been cheaper to buy another used camera than try to repair the disabled camera.

buena suerte.

Evan,

Why on earth would you want an "appraisal camera" without at least a 28mm (equiv.) lens? Seems like a waste of money to me. You said your previous Canon (which is one of my faves, BTW) gave out on you (from minor abuse, typical to the profession?), so why would you think the cheaper model will fare any better? Just some things to think about... I'm not trying to be critical, just to ask the "devil's advocate" type things to hopefully aid in thinking things through...

Anyway, it sounds like the problem is in the lens retraction system... (?) Some of that can be avoided by using a design that does not have this (very typical) type of lens assembly. There are some recently available (and another one just announced) cameras that, while being in the $330 - $400 range, may be a better VALUE for you (?) YMMV, of course.

You might consider one of the following. Both are semi-rugged designs which means they are:
  • water-proof to about 30 feet
  • dust-proof
  • shock-resistant (5' - 6' drops)
  • 28mm - 100mm+ (equiv) zoom lenses that are the non-protruding "folded lens" type that reduces the fragile moving parts that probably failed in your other camera

Available now - the Olympus Stylus SW 1030.

To All,

I will never purchase another Canon digital camera. They are not built to last. Their point and shoot focusing systems are terrible.

Webbed.

I have had the DMC-TZ3 7MP for a few months and it works great.

I may have to pull the trigger on that one. That's a pretty good deal.

Does anybody know how fast the flash recharges on that unit. I hate having to wait for it to cycle before I can take a second picture.

About 3 seconds.

Shot to Shot Flash off ~1.5 Sec
Shot to Shot Flash on ( red eye reduction on / off) 4.9 / 2.9 Sec

Please note that it has a metal case which pushes the weight up to a half pound.

That's pretty good I suppose. I just timed my existing camera and its 12 seconds. No wonder it ****es me off so much. I also think its been loosing pictures. On at least 2 occasions I've distinctly rememberd taking a picture only to not have it when I get home.

Maybe I'll forward that link to my wife, they're always trying to figure out what to get me for father's day.

....can you take the pixles down to around 1+ to prevent file overload.....rs
