Gruhn Guitars in Nashvegas - none better. Heck, drive your treasure down there and enjoy a couple of days in the Athens of the South.

gee mike, thanks ever so much! i never thought to look on google! what a lifesaver!

maybe you missed the part in the first post where i said i already tried all the local places and none of them were worth anything. one of the first 5 places in the google search actually tried to tell me it was worth about $2500 and they would offer me $1500 for it on the spot. i laughed in his face.

After they are done impressing you with how awesome and godlike they are, take it across the street to Carter's Vintage Guitars for a second opinion. :P

"HIghest appraisal" occurs regularly on Antiques Roadshow (along with value "at auction").

Versus Athens Ohio, the Athens of the North?

Not versus any city or town. Sheesh! Nashville's being referred to as the "Athens of the South" has its roots in, among other things, its being the site of the (replica of the) Parthenon, built in connection with the Tennessee Centennial in 1897.

Am well aware of the genesis of the name. Consider that post my Christmas present to you so that you could trot out your knowledge. Thought you'd like it--I know it fits. :rof:

Actually, "Athens of the South" (a nickname, btw) is broader than the Parthenon connection. Mr. Google would be happy to provide you with some additional detail. Enjoy.

I spent 10 years on the road as a bass / guitar player and vocalist in several bands and some session work before I became an appraiser in the mid 80's. I think I just found my side gig. Musical Instrument Appraiser to RE Appraisers.
