Appraisal Fees in the Panhandle

Good morning Shari,
Out in Oregon my fee is $600. What were your fee in IL and what do you think they should be in OK? An appraiser who moved into my area many years ago went to a few lenders and asked what my fee was and said he'd do reports for $25 less. The lenders called me and asked if I'd reduce my fee. I said no and eventually he grew his firm to three appraisers. He eventually got four demerits sanctions by ASB and no longer has his license in Oregon. So fee isn't everything.

I'm here in the Tampa Bay area (St Pete actually, as you can see from my profile)
Fees vary here in the area as I'm sure they will there in the Panhandle area. Many AMCs are in the $350-400 range for this area, although I'm guessing may have gotten down to the $300 range again due to the slow down and appraisers having the mentality of "good, I'll take anything"

I know 3 guys on the VA panel here (2 in Hillsborough County - Tampa, 1 here in Pinellas County - St Pete) VA is paying $650/report
Even on private work (non lending), I usually start at $500 and it sometimes gets balked at. But that's my starting fee. Many assignments I quote higher even into 4 digits and get accepted
If you just looking for AMC type work, I would guess it's probably similar to here - the $350ish range +/-

Good luck and welcome to the Sunshine State

I have been to Florida. I have seen some subdivisions that were very homogeneous (know not good term).

I like the subdivisions in Florida where the houses are all like light blue, orange, green and all the houses look the same. LOL

That is pretty much the situation in the Chicago burbs where I was, although VA was a bit lower. I literally just got licensed so time to hit the pavement and look for some decent clients willing to give me a shot. Thanks so much for the info.

Welcome to the AF -see you got a nice Laurel and Hardy Welcome - Not a real helpful group lately

OP has been a forumite since 2007....
We can understand why she hasn't posted much....
One has to have thick skin to be on here and most have left one way or the other. IF I was her I would just simply start my fees at $300.00 until I was killing off the competition. Then slowly bump those fees up as the old guys went out of business :)

I agree....
In 2014, my 1st year on the AF, while my initial opinion of 2 former (now room temperature) forumites was that they posted racist sounding comments....
You immediately immersed me in the "crazy", AKA Glenn Walker....
With some of your responses to my posts.... :peace:
