Appraisal Institute Accused of Covering Up Sexual Harassment and Test Flaws

Working RE: Tell us why you’d like to serve as AI president again.

Steinley: During the time that I’ve served on the executive committee the last three and a half years, I believe I’ve helped the Appraisal Institute move forward in a number of key areas. For starters, we have a new CEO. We engaged a professional search partner and completed a nationwide search to identify Cindy Chance. As the new CEO, she’s made a tremendous number of changes in her first seven months including needed modernizations in staffing and reorganizing the entire business enterprise to be more efficient and better serve our members and chapters.

...
She had support until she did what she was hired to do. Many at the top thought they could put on a show of reform by hiring her and manipulating her. They thought wrong. So they turned on her in near record time, and now the wagons are circling. People who know better are maligning Dr. Chance's character and credentials in an effort to save their own rear ends and maneuver for positions. Favors are being traded and promises are being made, it's the same old same old at national. Mr. Handsley has too many favors out and those who owe the favors don't have the courage to say "enough is enough."

What's happening now is a master class in reputational risk.

i dont know i just heard her talking about parea...not good :rof:

pimping parea...i dont know about that...now come to think about it i have never seen chance post here either :ROFLMAO:
Let's put this into context. Mark Verrett is on the board and he's currently on the search committee for a new CEO, he was handpicked by Paula. As the face of the AI she was doing what her board members wanted her to do, and that is promoting PAREA as a path. Behind the scenes she was alerting the board to the business side of PAREA and that it was a failure on that level. When you're in her position the old saying of "praise in public and criticize in private" applies. She thought she was making headway, but in the end her criticism of AMCs and the influence of REVAA is what led to her firing, it had nothing to do with PAREA.

you mean she was talking from both sides of her mouth...not very ethical

No. She promoted the idea of what PAREA should be while alerting the board to the business side failure. That is what she was hired to do and working within the structure of the AI (as flawed as it is) is what she had to do as the CEO.

I would have become a MAI if they accepted large donations for a Honorary MAI Designation for life with no annual dues or continuing education.

Hell people get Honorary PHDs from Harvard and Yale for donations.
But they saw your posts in AF.

Have to admit, pretty funny.

Back to the OP. Mr. Handsley is still standing tall. I don't have high hopes anything will change at national, REVAA has too much influence and the culture of favors runs deep.
