Appraisal with pets?

When in doubt just ask the appraiser. Either caged, or can move between rooms or outside as needed. Some people take them on walks or have them at a friend/relative close by temporarily too. Aside from the biting issue dogs can be distracting when they are trying to get your attention and I don't want to accidently step on someone's small pet that is trying to stay close to my feet.

As an appraiser who has been bitten (and I don't mean nipped) 3 times, always by "My dog doesn't bite.", alert the appraiser and keep them caged.

I entered the house and forgot to close the door. The other dog ran outside and owner had to go out and kept calling the dog's name.
I felt bad. Then again why did the dog just leave.
if you came to my house and forgot to close the door. i would wonder about you cognitive abilities.

Wouldn't bother me - all I need to to is photograph the room. Not an issue at all.
Right?? If your are weird about animals, you might want to re-think this profession entirely in my opinion. Most of the time, for a sale, folks are used to showings and crating dogs and the agents leave instructions., I even will get the names of the pets. For a refinance, the owners usually see I am juggling an Ipad, disto, tape measure, and yes, clipboard, sorry, and see that I don't need a dog jumping on me, so they handle accordingly. As a parent of a perhaps overly friendly Siberian Husky, I will put her away for the appraiser, agent, termite inspector, HVAC tech, etc. I am also careful not to let cats into the walk in attic, because to them, it is Narnia, again just personal experience being a pet owner and home owner coming into play. Let them out? And get sued? No way!

Yesterday one home I saw had a German Shepard and was put in caged in garage. The house stunk of dog odor. Maybe it's carpet that catches the smell. It was a good doggie in the cage.
The other house was a cute dog that never got close to me which is fine. The home had hardwood floors.

The house smelled of dog odor. Maybe unconsciously I wanted to get some fresh air into the house.

Sometimes don't you just want to get a jar of the air in the house and send it to the client. "This is what the house smells like"

Today I encountered a killer bunny rabbit.. It must have been because the owners left it in the yard when they moved and the neighbor took it in rather than let dogs kill it. You gotta be sorry to abandon a bunny rabbit. It was brown and white and it didn't attack me since it was distracted by a leave of lettuce.

Watch out for bunnies they have sharp teeth. I had a pair that would randomly attack your legs. I never could figure out why, but always thought of Monty Python.
