Appraiser Work

Since the business of dying is steady, my work in estate appraisals is pretty much even steven...

It's not slow. It's actually moving. But only moving for all the sub $300 appraisers out there.

Keep telling yourself that. My minimum is well above $300 and I'm turning down work. I'ts all local. Next month you'll be buried and I'll be hitting send / receive looking for work..

My minimum for a drive by is mid $300s. Most interiors are $450+ and I'm worn out from the grind but will continue to grind while the sun shines.

Careful, or you'll wind up with your hips and knees grinding whether the sun is up or not. There isn't any point in killing yourself now if you can't hardly walk when you're 65.

I grew up on a tobacco farm and am farming today although not tobacco. I don't worry about wearing out or retiring. I've been tired at times for years but will probably never retire. It's a genetic thing to work hard until you die. :coolsmiley:

I am as busy as I want to be. Turning down several appraisals a day, most are well below my minimum. I no longer try to squeeze an extra appraisal into the list at hand when I am over 2 weeks out at my normal pace. To day an AMC wanted to pay less than 70% of my fee for a lakeside property.

It's very slow on the commercial side too, particularly for small to medium sized firms. Not sure about the bigger companies (CBRE, Cushman, etc.).

It must be a Florida thing.....busy all year....hired one more to the group.. need to hire another....turning down work daily....fee has to least start with a 4....clients calling every week asking us to be added. 2017 shaping up to be better than 2016....never saw that coming...Appraisal shop setup has great appeal to our clients....
