AQB Update On Proposed Changes To Appraiser Qualifications

What the stakeholders want, the stakeholders get. The AMCs want to corporate-tize the appraisal function. The AQB is accommodating what the AMCs told them they want.
And appraisers are accommodating; 65% of respondents didn't comment on the one AQB move that will take training out of the hands of appraisers and allow AMCs to flood the profession with drones.

. When adopted it's will pave a path for AMCs to train new appraisers and staff up as needed. Game over for appraisers who depend on mortgage origination work.
While this may be true we all know how economics work when the market changes and there's a shortage of work. Last on first gone. All those trainees will be looking for jobs elsewhere in a different field. Comeon now, how many times have we been through these cycles?

Electoral vote vs Popular Vote :)

Sure, layoffs will happen. What's going to be different in the next cycle is AMCs will become large firms with the ability to create new certified appraisers with a class or two. I know rainbow chasing appraisers don't care, but if set C&R fees ever become reality AMCs will just hire more drones as needed.

So then,
Just thank the AMCs for dragging the FTC into the C&R discussion.

See that the cfpb was quick to change it's law concerning settlement services and what a borrower can be charged for.

Oh and one really funny thing.

When you look up the definition of settlement services, in the truth in lending act, AMCs aren't part of the definition.

Odd, don't you think?

.

The only thing "odd" is the belief that any of it will matter when the AQB follows through with their "education in place of experience" path.

"
  • There is a shortage of appraisers because of the current AQB requirements
  • There is no shortage of appraisers – it’s a matter of economics"
I think the 2nd is true.

Agreed.

AMCs constantly complain of shortages, but they never claim that orders simply never get completed because no appraisers exist.

How do they get the assignment completed?

Simple.

They raise the fee until an appraiser accepts the assignment.

Abq is comprised of a cuckold of retards.

what an ignorant statement. larry disney is one of the most respected appraisers i have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

you or anyone else may not like what they are working on but everyone has the same opportunity to voice their concerns. 43-65% of the participants did not even respond to sections of it. if the people (appraisers) who feel they are going to be hurt the most by the proposed changes don't care enough to discuss their feelings and offer any alternatives why should anyone else care what appraisers want?

Larry Disney is one of the finest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing and working with. There are very very few who have devoted themselves to the betterment of the appraisal profession they way that he has. His passion and professionalism is top drawer. He is an asset to the profession, not just the AQB.
