Best AMC

I don't think what AMC is used matters. All use the same pool of appraisers which means same quality and same turn times. The only real difference between AMC is who has better platform or software.

One of the problems with using AMCs is that many very good appraisers refuse to work with AMC's, This can create a bottle-neck when it comes to complex assignments as many of the appraisers who sling out volume for AMC's may not have the experience or desire for complex work. You might then have to scramble to find someone qualified to to the work. Some of the emails I have received for lately from AMC's scream of desperation. I think the lack of relationship building is a problem.

And I think you're spot on. It's amazing the difference in response you get just from actually talking to an appraiser vs a broadcast email for an assignment. Appraisers are the most valuable asset an AMC has, and unfortunately some AMC's don't realize or understand that.

Just look at this forum, and you will see some of the best appraisers in the industry refuse to work for AMCs. Not only that, but the so-called “simple” assignments are not so simple if you’re trying to do it right.

Here is what to expect from AMCs.

LOL - I would offer two observations in response:

(1) I have yet to meet the appraiser who thinks that he/she is an average appraiser :)

(2) There are several who get on here and proclaim they don't work for AMCs, but they were on my panel when I worked for an AMC.

Lol. Are you calling Terrel,Michigan CG and Georgey liars?

Lenders want burger flippers not master chefs. Let’s just stop pretending people expect quality from McDonalds when the whole reason they go there for fast and cheap.

Obviously you haven't had McDonald's fries...

I'm still on several dozen AMC panels from 2010/2011 days but haven't accepted an order from a single one since 2012...I've only received notification from one (Clear Capital) that I've been removed.
