Best Disto Backup Tool

Best disto back-up is a second disto with charged batteries and infared glasses. Sure, there are several 100' tapes in the trunk but it would take a knife to cut thru the cobwebs. 8" X 14" graph paper is my choice, yet I hear many appraisers have no need for it. Wonder what they do when they get into apex and the sketch does not square up...must have missed a wall or two. :)

100 foot tape from Harbor Freight, cheap. Had to add my own hook though.
25 or 20 foot metal tapes from Harbor Freight. Find a coupon for a free one with any purchase.
I dropped one into a trench at a vacant REO. Seemed a little hazardous to try and retrieve it, so I said goodbye.
Had one disappear at an inspection. Where did it go? Told the homeowner if you find it, it's yours, they are cheap. :peace:

A Bosch GLM 40 is my back up for attics.

Disto and the fattest pocket tape measure you can find. Over 10' = disto. 2-10'= tape measure. <2'= tape glued to 18" clipboard.
Where can I buy an 18" clipboard?
The largest I was able to find was a legal size, and that's about 15.5" long

I use a tape equally with a Disto. I can pull and retrieve this tape faster than trying to find a target in many cases. The "claw" works with difficult edges and gutters and has a 3:1 gear reel
Exactly. Same here....except I use the protape auto rewind. Super fast and only need one hand operation.
