I suppose it is possible that coins replace stocks. I don't know.
For companies who are actually developing a product the coins will be used to access the platform/product. Now don’t get me wrong, many are just copy cats with no plans other than to ride the blockchain hype, similar to many of the Internet start ups in the 90s. The few blockchain/smart contract start ups that stick have the potential to change whole industries. The link below touches on the potential:

I'm just going to stick with ETH and Gemini for now. Pretty happy with Gemini and ETH has the best chart.

Factom coin:
"It enables people and businesses to use a mathematically provable “notarization” service."

"We are working on data management applications to ensure that mortgages can be processed faster, cheaper, and within the current regulatory framework. This involves auditing and tracking data collection from many different parties over time about information covering every aspect of a mortgage. Income verification, property history and maintenance, taxes paid/owed, payment histories, property surveys, zoning, etc., all produce many documents that must be reviewed in the course of issuing and maintaining a mortgage.

The third use case would have been particularly useful during the 2008 housing crisis when banks were buying each other and had to merge huge amounts of data which resulted in thousands of documents being lost. That alone costed banks billions but can be easily prevented in the future thanks to Factom. At the time of writing this article there are over 140 mln records, 11 mln entries and 110,000 anchors on the Bitcoin’s blockchain which shows that it’s already being used heavily."

Again, the potential to change industries......and a FYI: Price per coin Jan 1, 2016 was $0.47, price today $78.08.

Are there any etf funds or mutual funds that focus on these crypto currencies?

Oh yeah. Blockchain here to stay.

It has tons of applications. Even keeping track of simple news. It can instantly go back in time and show was is fact vs fiction. “I didn’t say that” blockchain says you did.

Or to record history so can’t ever be destroyed for the future generations to know what really happened vs think.
