Calling for an appraiser boycott nationwide for a week

The appraisal firm that has 5 to 8 appraisers pumping out as many as they can get there hands on wont demand a fee increase because the owner of the "appraisal production shop" is making good money without any risk of loosing his AMC's. His sub contract appraisers will still suffer getting $100 a pop and they produce 2 to 3 a day. I have seen this operation first hand, and i am sure there are many through out the country.

Joe, your ascertation is that larger appraisal firms would rather support AMC's than make significantly more money for themselves and their employees? Preferential treatment continues, but common sense will prevail.

Boycott discount fees today. Tell lenders to boycott the large appraisal firms if they are behaving that way as well.

If this helps- from Working RE Survey

Hello all. In case this helps, here is a snipit from an upcoming story in Working RE (print) mailing in Oct.

It is from the new HVCC Survey: One Year On. (Working RE is published by OREP.org.)

Nearly 3,000 have responded to the new survey to date.

Appraisers are known for their individualistic nature, which often thwarts collective action. But organizers take note: 67 percent agree that “refusing to work for unrealistically low appraisal fees could be an effective strategy for raising fees back up to pre-HVCC levels.”

And 62 percent believe that “a national appraisal ‘boycott’ could be an effective strategy for calling attention to and changing current industry conditions that you consider unfavorable to appraisers.” Surprisingly, 64 percent say they “would join and contribute financially to an appraisal ‘trade group’ to advocate for appraiser interests.”

I wish it could happen.
I have already boycott AMC's as it is. I have only taken full feee AMC work so far. I really think there is only1 way to eliminate the lowball fee appraisers. The problem is battery is a serious offense but it really would not be a big problem seeing how most of the appraisers I see in CE seminars have a hard time pulling ut the chair to sit down.

We don't need no stinking boycott that will cause a rukus in the financial system and make the government come looking for us, naw, that's too ugly.

Everybody take a two week VACATION. yes, nice, clean, happy, after all the stress of a year of HVCC, and monkeys, every appraisers should need a vacation by now.

How about the local groups organizing big camping trips, in the mountains where there is no cell phone signals, or out in the ocean fishing? Great, a working vacation, sitting around the campfire sharing monkey stories, yup, would be relaxing.

That would really get their attention if we all just disappeared for two weeks or so on vacation without cell phones, until the government gets the ENFORCEMENT end of the financial bill in place,

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Frustrated with HVCC, big banks, and low paying AMCs devastating your profession?
There are more of you than them. Why doesn't every appraiser boycott every AMC for a week? The banks are making money off you. More and more banks are turning to this as a way of generating more money for their coffers. Let them know they couldn't function without you and start demanding some respect. Everyone just go on vacation for the week, thus unable take orders; it's the summer.
Start posting demands that can be complied into a letter to these lenders and AMCs. Start the discussion, email it, make it viral, boycott, and demand a change.
However, the only way for the banks to get the message is to have a massive number of appraisers boycotting at the same time nationwide. This thread is to organize this boycott. Email this thread to every appraiser you know who wants to change things. Get everyone you know involved. The date will be released soon.
Let us stand together with one voice and demand a respect for the profession.

Been boycotting them for over a year. I keep getting these "1004 appraisal request for $200" requests. Go back to my $300 2055 workload and laugh all the way to the bank. I dont even give the lowballs the courtesy of a callback. If they are willing to do that with fees, God knows what they are going to do to stip requests "appraiser to paint southerly side of dwelling, etc.".

Not sure if you're aware of this or not Marion but most appraisers are in a desperate financial situation right now. You would probably find that less than 1% of the appraisers in this country could afford to take a two week vacation. Easier said than done.

AMC Appraisal Request:
We request a full 1004. Fee: $225 Please deliver complete appraisal within 48 hours. Thank you.

Response:
Request revision needed: Our QC department determined that there was a mistake in your request. Please revise the fee to reflect the correct fee of $425 and resend it within 48 hours. Thank you.

Appraiserfest in the Poconos? How big is your back yard Marion? Big enough for a couple of hundred tents for those attending Appraiserfest?

All licensed appraisers bring a covered dish and all certified bring a side dish or snack. Everyone responsible for their own liquids (beer, water, hemlock, etc.) A two week respite from the fee wars.

Now if you could book a couple of bands and/or arrange for other activities--any tall trees for bungee jumping?

This can be done!!

I'm a broke appraiser to. But it costs me less money to eat from a campfire than to cook in the house, at least the electric bill is slightly less.

I might arrange the donated services of a band and a couple of disk jockies.

We have great tall trees, and cliffs, you can bungee jump over the mining pit holes. oops I mean the prestine lakes that we have, yeah, you just can't find the bottoms.

There are many places here to camp and most are very cheap, rough camping is free in some areas, but I perfer places with bathrooms.

Shall I look into it?
