Hi there,

Simple question; can we work?

I certainly feel we're "essential", but is that true? The governor's message was truly opaque.

Thanks,

Dave...

Same question over here in New York. I heard Cuomo mentioned Realtors specifically. Can I really not do inspections after Sunday?!! I’ve got a bunch set up for next week and somebody already called to cancel “because of Cuomos decree”.

Ask your mother :) LOL--Then ask her or a family member to send you some money !!! Good luck - use common sense if you are sick- then defiantly no-Also ask borrowers to distance themselves- I had a lrage family and I asked them to all go outside until I was done... Thanks them and got in my truck poured 90% rubbing alcohol on-my hands and left. If you are fearful quit and stay home and go broke : ) LOL

Yea... looking for guidance as well. Had a Client's "Head Appraiser" state we are all Essential Personnel and can continue work... However, I have a developer friend who works for CVS and has a "Essential Services Personnel" document from them.

Starts off: Dear Local Law Officer/Government Official: This colleague is transiting or providing a critical product/service..... Call our COVID command center at zzz-zzz-XXXX

From ICAP:

Appraisers are considered an essential business
The order encourages all “essential businesses and operations” to remain open, but directs them to enforce six-foot social distancing for both employees and customers.

Under the order, “essential businesses” cover a wide variety of workers, including the health care, public health, and human services professionals at the front lines of the state’s COVID-19 response. In addition, those providing essential government and infrastructure needs – such as waste collection, airport operations, law enforcement officers, and child welfare personnel – are exempt from the order.

Other exempt businesses include stores that sell groceries and medicine; producers of food, beverages, and cannabis; outlets, such as newspapers, radio, and television; gas stations; laundromats; banks, and other financial institutions as well as appraisers.

I'm very glad to be able to work, but was already mentally prepared to relax, take of my latex gloves, respirator, and breathe easy at home. Mixed emotions I guess!

Thank you. I was sent essentially the same thing a few times this afternoon. I’ve always FELT essential, but to see it in writing, fist pump!

Be careful out there.

AFAIC, they can take their "Essential Business" proclamation
Roll it up into a tube, and,
Insert it: "Where the sun don't shine".

My personal logic on this:
  • Earn money doing something that may bring illness - Business as usual
  • Potentially catch disease today or middle of next week, whenever
  • Potentially spread disease while showing no signs of infection
  • Get sick, and may have made others sick too.
  • WTF is the money worth to me now?
--vs.--
  • Minimize risk, Don't work
  • Earn no money
  • Get bored
  • "Live, To Fight Another Day"
YMMV

Edit: Cannabis Outlets ??? Oy !
