Come on Peeps!!! Indiana Fees

I sincerely apologize. I confess that I assumed you were an AMC rep from your initial post. Now I pay the price by looking like an ***.

If you've been lowballed for 17 yrs...I stand by my advice tho. Why continue working for that company? Why not go independant? You have the years and creds to get your own clients.
I haven't been low balled for 17 yrs. I've been in the business 17 yrs. I have been independent. I have far greater benefit of being where I am than solo. The company is restructuring the pay scale. It really shouldn't be so complicated to get a range from so called professionals. I'm not after anyone's clients. I'm not taking work from other appraisers. Just seeking some information.
This is why our profession is the way it is. There is no comradeship.

I work for company that is offering to pay reasonable and customary fees for the stated areas based off a poll they did. The fees they are quoting are from 17 yrs ago when I started appraising. I think I am worth more. Without evidence to the contrary of their research I don't have a leg to stand on.
So Called C & R fee's are not enforceable anyway so my question is why do you care ? No matter what your poll shows the company is not going to change their fee schedule for you.

Client stealing is not a concern of most anyone here that I have observed. Sounds like that greater benefit is being significantly reduced. I merely point out that you have the luxury of an independent option. They are moving your cheese...adjust to it or get your own cow. If you enjoy a position in your company wherein you have enough value to them to negotiate then do so and I hope it works. IMO if that is the case, sell yourself and what YOU are worth/will accept. Don't take what is a stressful situation (for which I truly sympathize) out on me for giving a perspective free of the emotional investment you have to contend with.

Seem you're missing the point. Doesn't hurt to ask or try. You're right, they may say no and probably will but, at least I tried. When a low fee comes over to you do you counter it? Or just take what's offered?

Was not taking anything out on you. Just stating what I see on this thread. Believe the benefit still outweighs being independent. If that should change I know being independent is still there. For now, it's still a pretty sweet gig. Thank you for your responses!

Very few, if any of the members of this forum work for appraisal shops. So how would they be able to provide what a competitive fee would be in your situation.

So what is the problem?

Its a business decision and if you like who and where you work then just ask for a pay raise, BUT if there are not better opportunities then I would just shut up and do my job. Most appraisers are replaceable and they don't know that until they lose a job or a major client.
