Disto Vs Bosch Laser Measure

I had one of the first Distos when it was the size of a brick. Still works but use it as a door stop. I use the D-3 now, dropped a bunch of times, keeps on ticking. I have the red glasses to complete the appraiser geek look.

My $149 Ryobi died after a drop and I bought a Bosch Blaze Outdoor GLM400CL to replace it. I hate the Bosch. Ergonomics of a brick, the screen has too much glare and the red dot is weaker than my old Ryobi. Repeated readings vary by more than the tenth of a foot ANSI standard, so I am forced to pick the best distance after multiple attempts. The software is unintuitive. I have not figured out how to easily add or subtract to a reading. For example with my old Ryobi to measure the side of a house with a gate and a wood fenced back yard I would start at the front corner and shoot to the fence, go through the gate to the rear corner, press the Add "+" button and measure to the back side of the fence to get the total side length. If the fence was more than one inch thick, then I would add that to my total. If the rear side was flat I would shoot my Ryobi laser from a rear corner across to the side fence, then walk down to the far corner press the Subtract "-" button and measure from that corner to the side fence to get the total width of the rear side. Try doing that on the fly with the Bosch without going three layers deep in the menu to change the setting each time!

I highly recommend trying a laser measure that has a green light vs a red light, makes all the difference in the world. The red-light versions were useless to me outdoors and the red glasses did not help me at all.
The add subtract function is a breeze on the bosch and the disto, you simply shoot your first measurement and then press the + or the -button and then shoot the next measurement... the display will show the net result
