Most 9th graders cannot read at a 9th grade level. Ditto most home buyers.Most 9th Graders don't read Appraisal reports!
That would be me. I was the only one of my friends that went to college and gave serious consideration to dropping out after having to slog through the general education classes in my freshman/sophomore years that were required for each student. Considering the outsized cost of education, perhaps we would be better served by reducing those requirements and possibly honing in more on a student's major. When I graduated HS, there weren't a ton of opportunities without a college degree and it wasn't easy to get in with the trades. Now, there is a shortage of contractors around here and kids can make good money just out of high school, so a college degree isn't as important.How many of you college grads went to college....

Heck no...I was trying to avoid Vietnam, wasn't a problem for you, right? And, my first thought was to be a gunsmith and machinist in the college at Trinidad, CO. The gunsmithing was taught by P. O. Ackley, renown gunsmith. But I couldn't get a draft exemption for that. So, college was in my future and my parents only said do whatever you can afford and we will try to help. Dad was disabled and had to quit his job and take disability. Income was short for the folks. Mom was a teacher's assistantHow many of you college grads went to college....

I resemble that remark. It was pretty much pre ordained where I was going to college by my freshman high school year if not before. Dad took care of most of the paperwork and for all intents and purposes I was accepted my junior year pending graduation and passing the private entrance exam. But if not for scholarships there was no way I could have afforded where I went.How many of you college grads went to college....
