Dress

Of course, the ones with the used needles, handmade crack pipes, used condors and various other items calls for the hazmat suit and handheld personal protection.

:peace:

Rural property in rural areas: Nice shirt, jeans, hiking boots. When I go into "the city" it's a nice shirt, khaki slacks and casual dress shoes.

I've always felt uncomfortable in a suit. But now that I have to make regular, formal appearances in a court setting I had to start dressing up. I found 3 very nice sport coats that fit well. A dark blue coat with gold buttons, a herringbone, and an almost black coat. Half a dozen nice ties. I also found some tasseled dress shoes in my closet (a gift from dad about 10 years ago but I had never worn.)

Cost: Less than $20 from the Goodwill. lol

Jeans or khakis, golf shirt or sweater, comfortable shoes which I take off on interiors. Courtesy, attentiveness and being punctual are how I approach the inspection.
Ahhhhhh Soooooo!!!!

Ahhhhhh Soooooo!!!!

Sorry, having a bad day. Think I need some adult beverages.

Funny you should mention that...I have a pair of Johnson & Murphy Optima tassled loafer I found at Goodwill for $6.00. Looked them up in the catalog and found out they were $180 shoes. Rarely ever wear them because don't have a need to dress up much any more.

A few years ago found two pair of Lucasse boots ($400 a pair) at Goodwill for $10 a pair. Looked like they had never been worn. Unfortuately they were too small for me but just right for my brother. Sold them to him for $25 a pair and he still wears them.

I also found some Daiwa graphite woods including the Excellor driver and got the whole set (5 clubs) for $30. The driver alone was $250. Had them re-gripped and they are like new. It's amazing what you can find at Goodwill.

I try to dress as functionally as possible, yet keep myself clean cut looking. However, it probably does vary a lot by region. It's 79 outside right now on Feb. 4 (sorry, had to). But that might give you an idea of some of the heat we deal with later in the year. I wear brown ankle high boots, and either cargo pants or khakis if possible. As for shirts, I keep it logo free, however I don't always wear a collared shirt. In the hottest months, I do wear cargo shorts. Cargos are great because you can keep a small tape measure, as well as your camera, wallet, and any other little items you might feel will help with your inspection, right there in one of the pockets. I don't like wearing shorts because of the vegetation that springs up overnight down here. (along with everything living on that vegetation) From saw grass cuts, fleas, to spider bites, my legs get torn up. I could never show up at a house in flip flops. I've found myself ankle deep in mud before, as well as other similar looking but worse smelling substances. They're rugged, and they're low profile, especially with pants. I do keep a baseball cap handy in the car for some of the more ragged looking homes. I've been in some hoarders homes where I've just been pounced on by fleas as soon as I walked in the door.
So keep it functional, but neat.

You made a $30 profit off your brother? Learning from the AMCs are we?

It is still considered unacceptable for a guy to wear a dress...unless you are Scot from the old country....otherwise you'd be kilt in these parts... (i'm sorry for that bad pun, Forgive me. It's cabin fever up here in the frigid heartland..)

Here is my favorite hat to wear on construction sites.
You're a very cruel man, Mikey

When I first started my mentor encouraged wearing a tie. I understand looking professional, but it is not really practical for measuring houses climbing through bushes, not to mention the heat. I gave up the tie and would just wear khakis and a polo shirt. Now I do wear shorts with a polo shirt in the hottest part of the summer. I mostly wear jeans now, depending on where I'm going, I dress up a little more for high end homes. But, now most bankers don't even wear a tie. I would never wear a t-shirt and flip flops unless I was doing all vacant homes. What's acceptable dress is really going to vary by market area.

This time of the year, you have to wear layers, as the weather may be cold one minute and warm the next. So I usually wear a collared shirt over a T-Shirt,
