EXOS and Blend Partner

Quality of your work and professionalism on turn times/updates are what drives workload on exos in my experience. Not having to schedule appointments makes my time more valuable, just keep a calendar up to date. Also my wife and I swap cars all the time, never been an issue. Overall exos has had a positive impact on my business
Finally a post from someone that likes EXOS. I assume a fee appraiser and not staff..>?

Not having to schedule appointments would not make "my time more valuable " , since I'd spend that same time or more inputting calendar /updating it /logging in at appointments . Having to make appointments myself can be frustrating at times but I'll take a brief moment of frustration over my time/income dependent on an app /scorecard algorithms / UBER like scheduling . A personal and a business decision, you feel EXOS has a positive impact on your business so it works for some- I give you props for posting (on this board ) a minority or less popular view point .

You like it, fair enough.

If you would share, what does your pre property visit preparation consist of? Do you go the subject cold w/o knowing much about it?

What happens on the day that the car switching becomes a problem? Example, when you have a belligerent borrower that you have never meet or spoken on the phone with.

How do you change an appointment, perhaps last minute, if some issue arises on your end?

My experience must be vastly different because scheduling appraisals was never a big concern of running my appraisal business. Getting paid a fair rate and in a timely manner was more significant.

Fair enough, Rocky. Good to hear a different take.

I made an appointment this week with my doctor using her app. I liked it. Available options visible, quickly concluded. But I was the consumer, in this transaction. She has regular offices hours in a fixed location. Does this sound like many appraisers?

This app is a convenience for the consumer, the borrower. To work, it requires buy-in by appraisers. For many of us, at best, it is a duplication of our own practices and existing efficiencies. Appraisers like tech, and we tend to be socially avoidant. You'd think it would be right up our alley, wouldn't you? If you already rely on an AMC for the lion's share of your work, then it must be an easy step to take. Others are wary of AMCs bearing gifts :)

...and when the Doctor can't hold the appointment, the front desk calls you and says sorry Doc is unavailable that day due to a scheduling conflict...

Appraisers get away with that much? Just wait until the appraiser and the borrower get hit with a $4.95 convenience fee.

My intent was never to discourage the use of technology. I love technology. And if the Exos app works well for the appraiser and is one piece which makes their appraisal life and scheduling easier, that is fantastic. My point was that it never worked for me and I wish it did, as I could never get my google work calendar to sync correctly with the Exos calendar. Numerous calls/emails and never resolved. But if you have questions for your doctor you certainly would pick up the phone and call. To me, the same is with appraising, I always liked to speak with the point of contact, I always asked to prepare ahead of time, a copy of the plat, a list of improvements, clear access to the attic or crawl space, confirm the age of the home, as in our area, the assessor is 4 years behind in accurately recording age, additions, GLA, etc. And, it puts a nice human touch in the process. I guess I'm the weirdo wanting to develop relationships and make the borrower feel a part of the process.......but according to Mr Wiley, Im just a liar. At least at true tech companies like Uber, they admit when they have failed, they step up to make corrections and they treat their employees and their 1099's extremely well and value their contributions. Im personally out of the field inspection part of appraising and sit behind a desk all day, but if I ever have to go back in the field, I think I would still prefer the human aspect of contact with the homeowners/agents, etc.

EXOS functions beyond a scheduler . When you make the appointment with your doctor, you've already selected this doctor and know their prices. You are not using an app to compare bids/fees from doctors to "win" an appointment from you. Though with an AMC there is a third party interest in the fee/selecting for the paient .

IF EXOS via AMC applied to doctors: A health insurance company's algorithms compare doctor's fees which are part of the DR. scorecard which includes min quality, how fast doctors see patients /submit records .The Insurance company app awards an appointment to a higher score doctor via patient day/time avail match.. ( higher score = which returns more profit to insurance company)

Do you think the appraiser isn't selected by the regulated party, and then the app appears to the consumer for their scheduling? Guessing the borrower does not get to pick appraisers because of federal regs. The app blurb did make it sound like that was the case, which was stupid.

That AMCs pick based on fee/TAT is not news. Why else would their one-off emails ask only that? App has nothing to do with that. I just think it could be used for other metrics later if they wanted, when things get even uglier. :)

I still won't touch it with a 10 foot pole but ... just my business decision

Seriously Question: how often do you get contacted by Exos/Servicelink staff? Pre or post "appointment" - or is it "all in the app" for you

My understanding is the EXOS app is tied in to the appraiser's scorecard (which includes fee and turn time.) Confirm with Danny but he did not refute it earlier. Indeed borrower can not choose the appraiser (I agree it gives that impression) A borrower would input date/ time they want appointment , EXOS app via scorecard/logarithms picks an appraiser , then sends the appraiser's name and photo to the borrower.

Wow lots of questions I will try and answer

Absolutely Rocky and all of that can can be accomplished without Exos.

I would dare say even better. Give true independence a try.

First I am an independent fee appraiser, I did staff work for a half a year and it sucked, and Exos is just one of my many clients. I have been an independent appraiser for 14+years

Glad to hear someone likes it. Thanks for sharing, Rocky777

I get calls/emails/push notifications all the time. Many calls are schedulers seeing if an appointment will fit in my schedule, others are providing contact info/other data. Just like other clients they email to often.

I set my own fees, work hard on reducing revisions and do my job in a timely manor. That seems to drive work my way.

Overall working for Exos is just like every other client, except I get better staff with barely any phone wait times, and my wife and I spend less time on the phone calling people. Staff are friendly and informed. The information I get is typical of any order, I will also get a call from a scheduler if their is a difficult client for whatever reason.
