FHA Appraiser-Complaint

David is unfortunately right. Not a whole lot you can do probably. And since you are the seller, you will more than likely never see the report.

It's a good thing that FHA is going with Certified only, so this will never happen again!

Sorry Doug, but I have to ask.

Was he "Certified"?

Does Rex appraise in Indiana?

FWIW, I can do an FHA inspection in about 15 minutes on a 1000sf ranch if no HO idiot gets in my way making small talk. Of course, I'm a professional inspector, wearing shorts, polo or button down short sleeve shirt, and tennis shoes, moving quickly from room to room, window to window, outlet to outlet etc., eyes, clipboard, and camera recording all that they see, since I know what I'm looking for (and at). Unlike the school marm types that wouldn't know a 3 way switch from a menage a trois and like to dawdle over antiques, doilies, and offer spelling lessons after reviewing the refrigerator art work.:icon_mrgreen:

Are there any school marm type appraisers? I thought they were Realtors. You know, the ones who bring fresh baked cookies to their open houses and light apple cinnamon candles:rof:

How did he get in the house? If your sister was there to let him in, what did she observe, it seems you are making a lot of assumptions?

TJ, there was an electronic box on the door. My sister lives out of town...Now how am I making assumptions?

David, I do have photos of no water being in the sinks and the attic scuttle not being removed!

I assume that the sink drains work, so a photo of an empty sink does not prove that he did not run the water ten minutes before you got to the house. I also assume that the scuttle hatch can be put back into place once the attic is accessed, so what does a photo of a scuttle hatch in place prove....unless you have some better proof than this, then a complaint will be a complete waste of time.

What Timd354 said as well as other things. The appraiser might not have known he was on a stopwatch, who knows, he might have gotten there at 10:50 +/- and rounded it off to 11ish. When I get to an appointment early, and then see the HO is upset that I did for some reason or another, I might say I just got there a few minutes ago to ease their pain.

Did you get a photo of the appraiser? It might have been one of Skippy's trainees. :rof:
