FHA Appraiser Notes Items Not Within Appraisal Guidelines

You're assuming there is a problem. Small cracks like that rarely create problems like you're describing.
One other thing: Maybe I missed it, but where did OP say that the vinyl side went on top of wood?
 
I'm given the impression they want their mortgagor who have a 3% or less equity interest to be getting a house that is going to be in 100% ship shape condition and not have pesky issues that would cause HOs to fight or divorce over leaky plumbing or even damaged siding that could result in FHA getting the property back and losing 20 to 30% of their mortgage value. They want the siding to look copacetic.
Ah...the appraisal is done on 100% market value, as-is.
 
Try to spin it some more. How big of a crack do you need to have water pass through. What did they put the vinyl siding over the aluminum siding.

I did not see any exposed wood. Which picture is it in?
 
Here is some advice go conventional or cash and there are no more worries. Another blame the bad appraiser thread. But it always interesting to see who sides with the brokers.

Who said it went over any type of siding? Are you familiar with the word Tyvek?
 
You said there is no wood behind it. What says the OP? Where's he at? Disappeared. Figures
 
Vinyl siding used on building exteriors is not nor is it meant to be a waterproof barrier.

Openings at the lap joints of vinyl siding sections as well as drain openings provided along the bottom edge of most vinyl siding products let the wall system breathe and allow wind-blown rain that may enter the siding to drain out of it as well.

So you are saying that if a house has vinyl siding and underneath is unprotected wood then the appraisal should be subject to since the siding is not a barrier.
 
Vinyl siding does not go on unprotected wood.
