Okay, my wife and I just got on the FHA list. At one of the classes she attended, sketching requirements were mentioned but no examples or details as to the different requirements.
Does anyone have a current sample sketch, or guidelines, or anything???

Thank you,
Harley

Your license status shows appraiser trainee. How can you "get on the list" if you are not licensed. Is your wife licensed at the certified level? If not, she cannot train you.

In any case, there are no specific differences in FHA building sketches and GSE building sketches except under certain circumstances. Refer to HUD handbook 4150.2 and the revised Appendix D to that handbook.

Edit... I see you and the Mrs. may both be certified.

Since you are new to FHA appraising, I would suggest that you take the time to read the applicable FHA guidelines regarding appraisals...you may find out about how bunch of things which are different from non-FHA appraisals. Everything you need can be found on the FHA website with a little effort.

Bucks, I always thought a golden sketch involved drawing in the snow.

While there is a lot of good advice you can find on this here board, I would definitely take a classroom FHA class from either the AI or NAIFA.

It's in the handbook. Just have to read it.

Welcome to the forum.

Include a building sketch showing the Gross Living Area Above Grade, including all exterior dimensions of the house. Include patios, porches, garages, breezeways and other offsets. State “covered” or “uncovered” to indicate a roof or no roof (such as over a patio). ·

Show calculations used to arrive at the estimated gross living area. An interior sketch or floor plan is required for properties exhibiting functional obsolescence attributable to the lay out.
