FHFA to allow alternative appraisal methods on purchases up to 97% LTV

I don’t see how the Director of the FHFA can be on record as saying a policy under his purview is dumb and irresponsible.
 
Calabria laid it out with his tweet, this is a political issue. Expect a reversal under a Trump administration. Expect amplification under a Harris administration.

I'm not at all confident that a professional commercial property developer will side with appraisers against the not-the-appraisers. He probably won't buy the appraisers-R-racists reasoning but he'll have his other reasons for not being that supportive of the various due diligence functions.

In the end, whether it's TAF, the GSEs, the Appraisal Institute with their secret meetings, HUD, etc
All of those entities need to be taken down one way or the other. They are all corrupt political organizations trying desperately to cling to power.
 
That’s why I get a kick from the people who said from the beginning of this farce “ I hope it’s not political and we can find a solution “. You can't possibly be that naive and stupid? It’s all political.

Carson already communicated they will, “Immediately end the Biden Administration's Property Appraisal and Valuation Equity (PAVE) policies and reverse any Biden Administration actions that threaten to undermine the integrity of real estate appraisals.” When the future FHFA director calls 97% LTV waivers dumb and irresponsible, I don’t think it’s an off the cuff remark. I doubt Trump has any interest in the issue, really. It is possible it wouldn’t get reversed just because of inertia.

I'd like to think so but no one cares about appraisers now especially. FHA's racist appraisers PSA plays non stop on a sport radio station I listen to is this even on the radar of anyone in government?
I'd tend to agree with Digger. Trump actually increased the de minimus in 2019. Conservatives are usually more in favor of less red tape (read appraisals), at least to a point. Liberals in the news, however, love the story of supposed "discriminatin' appraisers". So, wouldn't hold my breath there either. If there's a chance to have a good comeback in appraisal, I'll wager it's later on and maybe after a recession.

Wow, he really did say that. Sorry, have never looked into this 2025 heritage foundation deal though. This part at least sounds reasonable.

Ben Carson is really a cut above. We need him now.

Where exactly is the apparently unlimited money to lend coming from?

As far as avm's and waivers on 97% ltv's. Predatory lenders are getting their wish lists, every single check box. AVM certs in leu of human appraisers, waivers, higher ltv's allowances, lower income requirements, higher demins, elimination of many checks and balances systems including appraisers, and a very long list of other activities.

To 'recognize the benefits associated with waivers'. Debt traps for everyone! Welcome to the party.

My $64 question is, so how many appraisers and staff in appraisal dept will be layed off by the GSEs? No appraisals, no appraisals to review.
