This is an absolute disaster. One would think after the NAR folded like a lawn chair they would have learned their lesson.I wonder how many agents (or their brokers ) would want to add floorplans to their listings. The MLS listings often show up on Zillow and other online sites - IMO, letting everyone see a floorplan is an invitation for robbers and a privacy invasion some owners might object to.
Agents also are often instructed by their brokers not to measure a house because then the sf could be used against them in a lawsuit.
There is no such thing as a free lunch. Furthermore, I would not want agents to do our job. I don't want to just be an "analyst". I like measuring homes and I also like measuring them for money. I would not want my homes sketch available online to the masses. It doesn't just stop at MLS. This is more data cancer that needs to be halted in its tracks. An agents job is to open the door and sell the home. Our job is to inspect the home and develop an opinion of value. Agents are NOT ANSI certified or compliant. Thanks but no thanks. I will ascertain the GLA myself sport.Huh? Why wouldn't you want to see the floorplan of a comparable sale you're using? Are you saying the industry is better off if we can keep others from having access to floorplan generating applications? CubiCasa has been free for about 5 years now. What has changed all the sudden?
If I'm following correctly: this is about potentially losing market share to technology that is probably more accurate than many appraisers. Not some made up affront over folks not being ANSI compliant. Best of luck with that. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Furthermore, I would not want agents to do our job. This is where the disconnect happens. Should we be happy every time "technology" takes more money out of pockets. I don't think so. I also think CubiCase is misleading and a lie. It's NOT free. Obviously you like seeing what is happening to our industry. 25 years for me. I am not that happy right now. We should be in the drivers seat. It is unfortunate that we are always in last place when it comes to the decision making of our industry. If I'm following correctly: this is about potentially losing market share to technology that is probably more accurate than many appraisers. Quick question: have you ever used CubiCasa? If you believe it's not free, than any answer but 'no' will be unacceptable. This is where the disconnect happens. My colleague just utilized it to see how it would perform. He said it's slow. If you make a mistake its no bueno, and there is a start over process. Furthermore "appraisal grade GLA" and "3d" products are not free. Again, just another gross waste of money when you could hire seasoned professionals to provide the same with certifications.Quick question: have you ever used CubiCasa? I saw nowhere in the article where they were advertising to produce 'appraiser grade GLA' - just that they were promoting their floorplan sketching software - which, again - is free.My colleague just utilized it to see how it would perform.
