Global Economy Bursting?

Compare that chart to the dot.com and RE bubble. This is the no-real-earnings bubble. They are trying to get to 1320 and once it gets there it will level out and some where around fall or the first part of the fist quarter.......BAMM!! down to 650!

I don't know which way the market is headed, that's why I daytrade. Flat every day.

If you think it's tanking, sell some futures and see. A 400 point drop would net you $20K per contract.

Good luck to all!

Dow priced in another global currency – gold

It currently takes less than a mere eight ounces of gold to 'buy the Dow' which is considerably less than the 44.8 ounces it took back in 1999. Priced in gold, the Dow has been in a massive 11-year bear market.

I had an epiphany today and I want to bounce it off you guys. It came about by connecting the dots. I am interested in cat fishing and live 45 miles from one of the largest hydro dam lakes in the country that happens to be one of the best places to catch cat fish. For as long as I can remember all the hydro lakes around where I live, 4 within 50 miles, the water level is always down about 10 feet. When you drive by you can see the bare land between the water and trees. For the last two years all the lakes around here have been at full pond with no additional rain. We are presently in a dry spell about 6 inches behind schedule but the lakes are all at full pond according to the fishing reports.
My brother-in-law lives near Atlanta Ga and when we used to visit him we had to cross a huge lake that is the dividing line between Ga and SC. The last time I went over that lake some years ago it was so low that boats were sitting in the dirt a couple hundred yards from the water. People had lake cottages with no lake. Last night I was listening to people talk on the ham radio and one guy was asking another about the water level in the lakes in northern Georgia. He said they were all full. These are all hydro project lakes. They too have been in a relatively dry spell same as in recent years.
So, where is all this water coming from all of a sudden? My epiphany is that the lakes are full of water because the slow economy has reduced the need for electric power so the lakes are all full of water. One side effect is that someone caught the national record cat fish a few weeks ago, around 140 pounds. So now I have invented a new economic metric: The water level in hydro project lakes.

Bernanke GAVE THE WORST REPORT ONE COULD. THERE HE WAS, LOOKING LIKE A SICK CALF IN A HAIL STORM STATING HE WAS NOT SURE WHY THE "RECOVERY" HAD SLOWED.

I REALLY FEEL THAT IT WILL TAKE 12-20 YEARS TO GAIN BACK WHAT RE HAS LOST IN VALUE.

THERE IS JUST NO NEW ANYTHING TO CREATE JOBS, JUST MAINTAIN WHAT WE HAVE.

I visited a hydro-electric dam in PA last weekend -Conowingo- and learned that in times of low demand, they use the essentially free electricity produced to fill an artificial lake -- miles away -- as a power reservoir for drought periods.
Unfortunately, was unable to learn how many years it took for the pumps to fill what (on the map) looked like a pretty substantial lake.
.
No new dams, no new rail lines, dmm few new roads, where DID that stimulus money go?
.

All that water came from W Texas, SW OK and NM...they are toast

Can't fish that close to the dams here... The Corp of Engr gets too ticked when the dynamite goes off close to them :)

Here is a graph from the federal reserve of production of electricity and gas through May 2011.

There was a sharp decline and now it looks to be topping out, maybe set to roll over in decline again.

Austin, what do you think? Any correlation to your theory?

Here is the projected demand growth:
