There goes another 6 billion tax payer dollars to bailout the union contracts because the congress will take action. If I had my career to live over again I seriously would have gone to work for the post office. What is more secure than a 9 to 5 government job with a union contract with no layoffs, no cut backs, and benfits out the kazoo.

According to the article, the plan to make the post office solvent just for the next fiscal year ($9.2 billion this fiscal year) include eliminating Saturday mail delivery, closing up to 3,700 postal locations and laying off 120,000 workers — nearly one-fifth of the agency’s work force.

My prediction? Nothing gets through Congress. The post office is on a "run to failure" mode before anything will happen. This is the second news media story in as many months covering the problem.

P.S. Obama has not brought up this yet in any of his speeches.
