U.S. Set to Sponsor Health Insurance

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/28/h....html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20121028

The Obama administration will soon take on a new role as the sponsor of at least two nationwide health insurance plans to be operated under contract with the federal government and offered to consumers in every state.

These multistate plans were included in President Obama’s health care law as a substitute for a pure government-run health insurance program — the public option sought by many liberal Democrats.

The national plans will compete directly with other private insurers and may have some significant advantages, including a federal seal of approval. Premiums and benefits for the multistate insurance plans will be negotiated by the United States Office of Personnel Management, the agency that arranges health benefits for federal employees.

RE part-time employees. In today's uncertain economy and historically low work force utilization (63%), there is absolutely no incentive to hire full-time employees. Look at how many big companies are hiring contractors for what used to be full-time employees to avoid the liabilities of hiring employees as well as the flexibility to cancel the contract with no liability.

Is There a Problem About Raising Taxes as the "Solution" to the Fiscal Cliff?

http://www.oftwominds.com/blogoct12/taxes10-12.html

We all know cutting Federal spending is politically impossible, so that leaves raising taxes as the only "solution" to the "fiscal cliff."

Since most income tax revenues flow from household income, let's look at some charts of the workforce and household income:

As a percentage of the population, the workforce has contracted to levels of the late 1970s.

Yes, I know: the solution is to "tax the rich." The Problem with "Tax The Rich": It Won't Work

I.B.M. Reports Nanotube Chip Breakthrough

http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/...ough/?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=edit_th_20121029

The advance, first described in the journal Nature Nanotechnology on Sunday, is based on carbon nanotubes — exotic molecules that have long held out promise as an alternative to silicon from which to create the tiny logic gates now used by the billions to create microprocessors and memory chips.

If only we could fractionalize micro processors as fast as we fractionalize the dollar ...

Keynesian Economics Professor Tells Hurricane Victims “It’s Good For The Economy”

The broken window fallacy is alive and well

http://theintelhub.com/2012/10/30/k...s-hurricane-victims-its-good-for-the-economy/

In his new article “The Economic Impact of Hurricane Sandy … Not All Bad News“, Professor Peter Morici puts forward the idea that the clean up following Hurricane Sandy will stimulate economic growth, and thus be good for the economy.

Explain that to the people who left New Orleans, Mississippi Gulf Coast area how the area benefitted from the recovery. Still struggling after all these years in many areas.

That article was difficult to understand - seem to use a lot of smoke and mirror psychology to get away from some hard cold facts.

It says that government can manage things better than the private sector. - Which is false.

What governments around the world have shown us - is that they can not handle "the peoples money" ..... the ruling classes "distort money" and build large Ivory Towers around narratives that ultimately serve the interests of the "dominant minority" ... ie: Keynesian economic theory ....

We are being forced into austerity because of the debt and mismanagement of big government ....

this is a cool aide article if ever I saw one ....

... universal health care can be achieved and we should strive for it ....... but the means at how we accomplish this task has to be a "common effort" of a cohesive apparatus - not forced or coerced with false flags and false data that serve interests outside of the national interests - and neither can such a system infringe upon the rights of the individual to seek his/her own health care solution - I believe this is where Hayek would be going - given the intense distortion of information and propaganda ...... people must retain their individual rights to insure liberty to the nation

I believe Romney's approach to health care would the "present day incarnate version of Hayeks' universal health aims"

Hayek is not even relevant today - so much has happened - we have gone too far ...... to save currencies ... we have to go through a "hard time"..

....a time of pain ...

... and then back to real money backed by gold
