Global Economy Bursting?

I find it interesting the title of this thread is GLOBAL economy bursting .. but nearly all the posts are about California. California is not "Global" no matter what the granola state might think!!

I have to agree with PE...not only is the thread primarily about CA but it is primarily negative news. Should be more balanced and more "global".

On the recent unemployment figures, inside the facts. A majority of new jobs were part-time. More were removed from the overall employment base than jobs added. More people carrying 2 or more part-time jobs. If you are over 50 lotsa luck getting a job.

The law of unintended consequences hard at work.
Want to bet those part-time jobs are each under 30 hours per week?

"You have to pass it to find out what's in it!"
~~say, was she referring to Obama Care, or used food?

Many of the part timers at Home Depot are being told to stay home due to hours being cut. The full timers are having to cover multiple departments at a time.

Economy is tough around here. We just got an assignment - did it < 2 yr ago. Lumber yard. They've surrendered several tracts of land back to the bank and have put up the house, 2 rentals, etc. to survive....It's gonna be a very tough year for this guy. He is carrying a way too little inventory and the place needs new shingles itself.

My old clinic called begging me back after I changed doctors...could not tolerate the new doctor...it's another place that lost a huge chunk of biz when a local business sold to to a larger firm that has its own clinic and doctors. People like me that pay cash were hard to come by.

On RE front, condos built in 1978-80 sold for $85,000 at a local golf course resort. We have a contract in hand for one REO - $35,000. They went to $45,000 in the late 80s...back up to peak of $90,000 in 2007...now they are $60,000 if in tip top shape.

Terr.

Its Changing.

Sd On 112 Has 3 Sold. Sd Next To My Office Has 3 Solds.

Guy Transferring To Atlanta Told Me 6 Months Ago He Could Have Got A Much Better Deal.

It Not Over--but I Think It Has Bottomed Out Here. Not In All Segments-but Some.

Ed - I think a lot of folks are so weakened that they won't recover ever...

Sorry to mention CA, but the Dimwits have introduced a bill to penalize employers who reduce hours below 30 to avoid O-care.
