Global warming, so confusing, help me understand.

Recent studies have revealed unexpected patterns in tree rings that challenge traditional climate models. For decades, scientists have relied on ice cores and historical records to predict climate changes.

However, tree rings are providing new data that sometimes contradicts these predictions. For example, some tree rings show periods of rapid warming or cooling that don't align with previously understood climate events.

This has led researchers to question whether there are factors influencing climate that we haven't yet considered. The unexpected findings from tree rings are prompting a reevaluation of how we understand climate change and its driving.

Advanced techniques, such as radiocarbon dating and isotope analysis, allow researchers to date the rings with remarkable accuracy. This precision helps in correlating tree ring data with other climate records, providing a more comprehensive picture of historical climate trends.

Tree rings have been instrumental in uncovering climate extremes that were previously unknown. For instance, some rings indicate severe droughts that lasted for decades, events that are not documented in written records.

This localized information is essential for understanding how climate change will affect different regions differently. For example, tree rings can show how certain areas have experienced more intense droughts or floods compared to others.

Beyond climate, tree rings have also shed light on the rise and fall of ancient civilizations. Researchers have discovered correlations between tree ring data and historical events, such as the collapse of the Mayan civilization.

By studying the rings, scientists have found evidence of prolonged droughts that likely contributed to the decline of these societies. This intersection of climatology and archaeology provides a richer understanding of how human history has been shaped by natural events.

I checked in on a weekend morning lark and thought "maybe I can help an appraiser with an appraisal problem". Obviously, I somehow got into the wrong forum and ended up in what used to be the water cooler..

Notice how fast the Democrat climate panic ended once it was no longer getting them votes. The New Green Deal and the mass hysteria that the world was ending in 12 years.

The Greta Thunberg insanity where loonie Woke fake science was listening to a insane mental high school dropout lecture them.

The woke dopes between climate, biology, and Covid misinformation took the credibility of real faith in science back into the dark ages.

I needed to know if everyone was still making a location warming adjustment, or is it neutral now with this cold weather. I don't want to be caught in a bubble temperature downturn. I try to measure the co2 in every property to make sure it's not destroying the area. So, isn't that an urgent appraisal thingy.

Few remember the Radon Gas fear FHA had sold years ago. They even had a disclosure in Big Bold Letters we attached warning buyers of Radon Gas and get an inspection. Radon Gas was everywhere.

The expert in tree rings was not Michael Mann (recently told by a court to pony up $500k to National Review for their legal court costs when Mann's suit failed.) The "hockey stick" of Mann was declared bad science for mixing dubious tree ring data with historical known temperatures. It made no sense.

The expert on tree rings was the late Dr. Keith Briffa who was over-looked by the IPCC so they could use Junior researcher (at the time) M. Mann's "hockey stick" to sensationalize the idea of a rapid increase in temperature in the past 50 years (which has not occurred.)

Key aspects of the Briffa's research included:
  • Tree-ring proxies for climate:
Tree rings, specifically their width and density, can be used as a proxy for past temperatures because tree growth is influenced by climate conditions.

  • Divergence problem:
In high-latitude locations, tree-ring data has been found to diverge from modern instrumental temperature records after 1960, a phenomenon known as the "divergence problem".
  • Possible causes of the divergence:
Briffa and others have proposed various factors that may contribute to the divergence problem, including temperature-induced drought stress, changes in solar radiation, and air pollution effects.

  • Impact of divergence on temperature reconstructions:
The divergence problem limits the reliability of using tree-ring data from high-latitude locations to reconstruct temperatures after 1960.

  • Ongoing research:
Briffa died in 2017 and was ill before then, and others continue to investigate the divergence problem and its implications for climate science. But he made it clear that as a temperature gauge, tree rings had serious problems. For one, trees grow not only due to temperature but primarily due to moisture and sunlight. Therefore, it could be a relatively cool year and yet see high growth, or a hot year could do the same. A dry year in a particular spot sampled does not mean 100 miles away the moisture falling was much higher.
However, if you don't preach the global warming doomsday scenario, you do not get funding so, by shear dollars, the research aimed at proving global warming is well funded but any contrarian research that cannot promise that doomsday scenario is unlikely to be funded. That's not real science. Real science goes in without knowing what the data will tell them beforehand and does not require the "researcher" to distort the data until it "works" or cherry pick the information to meet the promised outcome.

I don't know how you can reconcile science (any science) with The Devine Plan....
Tree ring....
Smoke ring....

Isn't it a waste of your time to debate it....
Nothing beats The Plan....
AMEN....

I don't know who "Devine" is....

The jehovahie Witless came by today. I asked them to explain the Watchtower pamphlet they left me 40 years ago that read "88 reasons why Jesus will come again in 1988" - They left.

Well Terrel, its like this, see:

1. There's ANDY DEVINE:

2. Then, there's just ... *AHEM* ... "DIVINE":

Any OTHER questions I can answer for you?:dancefool:

My spelling has always been atrocious....
