Going Back Into The Field

I take my camera, phone, and disto.

I have a Moto Droid and have been thinking about using that. I just hate the camera on it.

You know you have a partner in Uncle Sam. You share your income and you share your expenses with the government. As long as you are using that phone or tablet or whatever in your business, you get to deduct the purchase price and the monthly expenses.

LOL, it has been so long I have to keep reminding myself of that. I also need a new company name. I was looking at a 8in Samsung tablet at $160 price. Not sure for a 8 or 10 inch size.

Unless you have bad eyes or the screen is too reflective, go with the lighter smaller one.

The iPad has the scratch-resistant glass, oleophobic coating. I can boost the brightness too however, if I turn my back to the sun and cast a shadow over it, no problem at all!

I am still using a note 3. It's pretty beat up now but still works great. I love it. Got 3 batteries so I never have to be tethered to charge.

Some guy had "Appraise the Roof" back in the day which could suggest that he would boost the value.

How about "Sky High Appraisals"? :)

Crazy thought, sorry about that.
Coming back from CO, I would leave that one alone. LOL.

I am debating if either going back to the clipboard free hands system or start using the tablet system?

Welcome back to the forum.

I've bought all the gear; field tested all.

Office you need to open your wallet and get a FRESH system. You've been gone so long, you missed several platform changes. If you have to blow dust off, throw it away. Dual/triple monitors, touchscreen/stylus, nice and fast..... Welcome to 2016.

Field work, you sound solid. Disto is the absolute best all around. Combined with pencil and paper (yes....p&p), good cell camera and laser, you are ready to inspect.

---I went through a phase printing labels for my files. Why, why, why...took twice as long. I print neat and will continue to write them. Some tech is good, others...not really....
Would you like to buy a label printer for your new office? lol

I have tried to use an iPad in the field (mini) and found that I spent too much time hunting and pecking than looking at the property. I prefer just bringing my clipboard, my disto, and tape if I need it, and hang a camera around my neck. Sure it would save some time once used to it, but the getting used to it part is hard. I want to concentrate on the house, be able to answer questions, and not get caught up in trying to figure out the technology. Guess once it is slow and I can take more time to learn, it is time to do it. There is a learning curve so if you are starting out fresh again, I'd really consider as much technology as you can handle.

Love the idea of having the iPad mini like a purse or something, although that would take away from the camera. Really like true cameras still...
