HB 303 - Regulation of Real Estate Appraisers & Appraisal Management Companies

Under this bill Securityone Valuation would be exempt. I'm trying to point out the weakness of the bill. That's what I'm doing so far Howard.

I would recommend documenting your issue and provide an appropriate recommendation to your representative and those on the committee for the proposed bill. This is likely to be far more constructive in achieving your objective.

Yes, and now everyone on this forum can address some of the same issues with their representatives. That's why we discuss them. Thanks for pointing that out.

SecurityOne is not licensed as a mortgage broker, mortgage lender or insurer. It was not/is not a financial institution. One of the partners in the LLC was Taylor, Bean & Wihtaker, but that does not make SecurityOne exempt from the proposed law.

Would AMC registration also subject them to being taxed for income generated within Florida? With the loss of re tax income in Florida, this might be a selling point to the state government.

I encourage everyone to let their fellow appraisers know about the proposed regulation, and let their representatives know what they think of it.

As far as taxes or revenue for the state, that could very well come out of appraisers fees. Be careful what you wish for!

Of course we are going to pay for it. We are the poor sap workers with no voice. A bill sponsered by appraisers that don't work for AMCs so they don't care what it costs us or the consumer.

Any updates on this bill? I contacted Representative Matt Hudson to thank him and to offer any help, but never got a response back from his office.
