Are there any organizations we can join that offer Heath Insurance for Appraisers at a group rate ?

Group rates

Since my MLS membership requires me to join the Board of Realtors I think I am eligible for their Group program. I have not checked into it but believe it is an option you may wish to pursue.

Some MLS services offer the realtor group insurance to appraisers who belong

I looked into the Realtor associations, Chamber of Commerce, etc and they all either have extremely high rates or terrible coverage for the price you are paying. It was always better to just get individual coverage for me. I had up until recently basically a catastrophic policy in place that covered major medical problems and anything less than $2000 I payed. It worked for me as I rarely ever go to see a doctor or need one so if something came up I would rather pay the Dr. the office fee and anything else that came about of it rather than paying the higher premiums for a more thorough coverage policy. Combine that with Aflac and a long term care policy and I had sufficient coverage.

Since you're in Calie, check out OREP, I get Kaiser through them for less than $300/month. The scary thing is that reality says that's a good deal, not outrageously expensive. :new_smile-l:

When getting in on a group rate deal, are physicals required like with individual policies?

The Appraisal Institute has a reasonably good group insurance plan, with many options. My wife has group health at her work, but I still get the life insurance and disability income insurance through the Institute plan. You can join the Institute as an affiliate member, and qualify I'm pretty sure.

That's the same plan I have. :rof:
