Hi everyone,

I'm a consultant working with a team that's been active in the mortgage finance space for the last 15 years and we're exploring how some recent technology innovations could be applied to the appraisal process. The team is also in discussions around partnering with one or more AMCs.

We understand that if we're going to make meaningful improvements to the appraisal process hearing from experienced appraisers must be our very first step. If anyone is interested in providing your own industry expertise and advice, we would love to connect with you for a ~30 minute phone call to pick your brain and learn from your experience. If we end up getting the chance to chat, the team would be happy to compensate you for your time.

If you'd be interested in helping out with this project and having your experience be a part of what we're building, you can reach out to me directly at mitchell.bremermann@gmail.com

All the best,
Mitchell Bremermann

hire an appraiser to provide appraisal ordering and review. use the Mercury Network. thats what my favorite lender clients do.

Only thing would help is a really good program of importing from MLS and searching all over sources for a same property since internet can have listings or info not on MLS

Is there a need for what you are developing - there are already so many programs existing already. For appraisers, the process can not be "helped" after a point with technology - appraisers have to THINK ( very old fashioned ) dig around , talk to people, analyze etc. It really can not be done via technology, they are very different processes

I don't know what market you have in mind, but I would question the need -fannie and freddie have their own data bases and tech, lenders have a plethora of AVM and statistical and data sources ( as do AMC's ) then there is Zillow, red fin, our own MLS with its own programs - maybe you have a new marketing angle but it is an over crowded field. Add in market for mortgage /lending appraisals appears to be contracting ( unless trends reverse ) aka wrt Fannie waiver programs )

There have been plentiful attempts already. Indeed, many have sought to replace the appraisal process entirely. What kind of technology innovations are you referring to?

Our own software programs ( alamode and ACI the big ones ) offer plenty of tech - you might want to see what is already exists

The last 2 or 3 decades of history (at least) are littered with the carcasses of your predecessors.
Banking is notorious for mergers and acquisitions, and firing people wholesale. Tech comes and goes.
What makes you better? :peace:
