How does everyone manage their passwords?

I don't bank online, not even to get statements. I switch credit cards often. Have them reissue a card with new number and don't manage the account online. You get a paper check or I don't do business with you. But somethings are a PITA. Medical records - I got a notice some of a company records were compromised in a data breach. And I don't even do direct business with that medical provider. WTF?

This is super paranoid - online is way safer than physical mail.

This is smart.

Paper checks are an order of magnitude less secure than cards and online banking which is why most countries have moved on from them (and have in general, better payment systems than us - no fee instant transfers, etc).

Someone once stole checks from all the mailboxes in the industrial neighborhood my fathers business is in and did some kind of cloning operation on them - stole hundreds of thousands for businesses there. All because America is behind the times...

Data breaches are a risk for sure, but in general - if you use best practices (non-human readable passwords, rotate passwords, two-factor auth when available, use a VPN, anti-virus software, ad blockers when browsing, etc), chances of issues are reduced greatly.

Humans are always the weakest link when it comes to data security.

Just like with love making, don't do it in public & use protection if you don't want any surprises.
