I have to switch to iPhone

When you do a lot of DIY work, and/or are a trained electrician like yourself, you sometimes take it for granted how a simple job can't be done. Especially with someone as smart as RCA. It's unbelievable how some dudes don't even know how to reset a GFI receptacle. Or stick an allen wrench in the slot under the garbage disposal, turn it back and forth a couple times to get it unstuck.

I'm okay with installing dishwashers, swapping receptacles, ceiling fans, pigtailing an outlet. Running a new line, with a new 240 receptacle, making sure I don’t overload a circuit, I would hit up Thumbtack....some DIYer might electricute themselves, not cut a hole in the wall in the right spot, run the Romex incorrectly.

I work on a lot of stuff...but I'll make the call for the pro if it's over my head...
My comment to RCA was based on him using the term "Romex". Not many people know what that really is. Romex is probably the easiest to install, with some exceptions like old work. But you are correct about a DIYer. I have seen some unbelievable DIY jobs. Such as using lamp cord to wire receptacles or the proverbial penny behind the fuse.

I went to Angies. It gave me four electricians to choose from, and I heard from one, one of those who subcontracts out to a gigantic list of subs. They can find someone, I am sure, but ChatGPT said to be cautious about who you get. THEN, they gave me another list of 11 contractors, and knowing the situation, I asked for bids from all. I never received a bid from any of the 11.

So, there you go.
I've had much better luck on Thumbtack. The contractors on there are quick to react and want to work. They get charged a fee if they respond to a request. They don't have time or unlimited monies to mess around. They have to be competitive with their bids to get the job from you.

The whole process of contacting someone on Thumbtack, getting the bid, and getting the job done should take no longer than 2 days.

Just updated to iOS 18, complete UI and icon overall - feels like an amateurish early 2000s Linux skin… Completely unusable. Might be looking back and Androids.

Hey.....it happens. Look what Microsoft did to Windows. Everything after Windows 7 is an abomination.

Ios? I am on 26.1, with Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. (Note: Do not upgrade MacOS to 26.0.1, the current available upgrade. Wait a couple of weeks for 26.1 to come out).

Regarding iOS 18 - that is fairly stable now, as long as your iPhone 15 or newer.

The newest Windows OS is actually really nice, I don't mind it. But there were some growing pains to get to it.

If you don't have high demands, probably most operating systems are good enough.

The problem with Windows 11 ( and this Fall's version is just a minor upgrade) is that it is primarily focused on large corporations.

IF you are a small-time entrepreneur, who nonetheless has a complicated system (e.g. a small research, video, photography) business, then you will likely find that Windows 11 is too heavy for your needs - and dealing with all the third party software and patches you need leads to crashes, lost data and wasted time. The Apple EcoSystem fits better for your needs. Apple is good for small business.

If you have been doing transfers from your old iPhone to your new over several generations of upgrades, I would suggest doing a reset and completely fresh install on your latest iPhone. Grok agrees. And only install apps that you really used. You will get rid of a lot of garbage that often causes problems or wastes iPhone resources.

Man.....Grok is RCA's BFF.....
