Well I'm gonna get an "I told you so" from my wife. She could never understand why I stuck w/ PC Access or how it even lasted being around so long. The little I have dabbled in both, connectMLS does seems slower of the two.

I switched off of PC Access a fair while ago, tried ConnectMLS and couldn't get the grasp of it (and I consider myself fairly tehc savvy). For those switching from PC Access, I recommend Re/xplorer; there is a custom search field that allows you to input your items into the browser exactly as if it were access or lightning.

Beware that RExplorer has become very slow recently. My guess is that they are pulling resources off that engine to support connectMLS.

I shunned connectMLS for a pretty long time. Recently I decided to spend some time learning the system and now I prefer it. It provides quicker access to the tax records, listing history and plat maps from within your general MLS search without the need to jump back and forth between searches.

Although I know that RE Xplorer still displays the total marketing time, this blurb sounds like that is going to go away as well. I don't know who to believe anymore.

HOW CAN THEY DO THIS...?

MRED’s interim board has adopted
the following changes to removing
Market Time from connectMLS,
Compass and ReXplorer Agent
Reports. These changes take effect,
Monday April 7th, 2008.
- Remove the 1-line with Market
Time Report
- Remove Market Time from ALL
Detail Reports – Listing Market Time
will still display
These changes will not effect the
display of Market Time displaying on
Listing/ Property History, CMA
Reports, and Custom Format fields
list. The Market Time will still be
used to calculate Average Market
Time on any statistical reports.
Please Note: Average Market Time
statistics and Market Time values in
CMA reports between Tempo and
connectMLS will be inconsistent.

They Did It!

No more D.O.M. on those damn listing sheets. HOW CAN THEY DO THAT???

How can we form a good market analysis, check the pulse of current market activity, etc, with those numbers gone?

What are we supposed to do, count from the original date of listing...???

INSANITY RULES STILL!

Dave...

Pull the listing history, the data is still there plus you get to see all the price and status changes which you might find occasionally important.

The accumulative marketing time has been removed from the listings only (to help sell off some of this inventory...lol) The Area Market Survey and Market Statistics Report still displays accumulative marketing time.

If I have to COUNT all the days (let alone realtor switches, adding in the total contiguous days) that is STUPID.

And all that just to HIDE their elongated marketing times.

INSANITY.

Dave...

Attn PC Access Users!

Ok, well since they're going to stop supporting my beloved PC Access, I decided to plunge into connectMLS. I must say over the week or so that I've been practicing, I have found that I am going over to this system, especially when I have a Subect in, let's say Aurora, for instance. This rubberband tool Kibler introduced...wow. With an area as large as Aurora, or Joliet, etc., you can select boundaries and go from there. I find that I'm pulling data faster in larger market areas. I like it! I'm not using it 100% yet, but I bet I'm using it about 30% right now.

For the heck of it, I tried RExplorer, and it was slow, not layed out well, and not especially user friendly.

What I don't like about ConnectMLS is that it has to pop up dialog boxes for many of the choices. Realtors may show houses in their usual areas so they get to memorize the area numbers for example. But I have to use the darn pop up box and scroll through it, then check the choice, then close the box. Then do that for other choices too. Just takes a lot of time as compared to a 'blank screen' type of program like Lightning2000 where you can start from scratch and type all of the criteria in maybe 10 seconds.
