Increase in insurance

You are reaping what your elected politicians have sowed.
well, in reality it's not the politics here. it's: don't build your home in a desert dry brush area, don't build you house next to the mississippi river, don't build your house where the hurricane rumbles thru each year. where i live, watch out for the zombies.

Suze Orman scoffed at a $28K insurance quote for her Florida condo — says the insurer 'will probably contest' any claim she files anyway.

My buildings must be very old. My commercial space has a cracked pipe and leaking water.
I checked my policy and last year I raised the deductible to $10,000 to save on my premium. Ugh.

Florida House Prices Plummet as Insurance Crisis Worsens

The housing market in the Sunshine State is currently in a difficult situation. On one side, skyrocketing insurance costs are pushing owners to sell their condos; on the other, rising costs are discouraging buyers.

fernando forget the cost of insurance. i ain't paying my rent no mo in cali.

California’s eviction moratorium, which has been extended for three years, further straining landlords and property owners. Williams argues that these policies not only drive wealth out of the state but also foster a culture of dependency, where individuals increasingly rely on government intervention for financial support.

The Democrats have put more burden on the haves to take care of the have nots.
There's talk of taxing and increasing rates for the higher income people to subsidize the poor people. Same as having an exit tax for moving out of the state.

Newsom and his Democrats have forced property owners to help the poor like eviction moratorium, vacancy tax. and forcing multiunit housing development in less dense zoning neighborhoods,
CA had been a great place to gain appreciation in real estate. However with all the regulations and taxes and increase in supply of housing (affordable housing and declining population in CA), the future of increased appreciation relative to other parts of US doesn't look good.

My wife has been telling me to sell our properties (she liked the higher appreciation of stocks and less maintenance and headache).
The idea of moving from CA (at least spend 183 days residency in a no state income tax State) is in my mind. CA needs to stop having more socialist policies.

I got notice on another commercial property that when expire, it will not be renewed. WTF!
It's in prime location. Reason given was old age and condition of building.

The good news is that I found another company willing to insure my earlier mentioned property that was to be cancelled.
Not all insurance companies want to exit out of CA. Thank goodness.

State Farm has only dropped residential policies in high-risk fire zones and on some large apartment complexes in ill-maintained condition. If the Govenor doesn't get his act together this situation will continue to get worse. I expect to get a letter any day now about the roof I need to replace.
