Many Arizona residents are being hung out to dry as homeowners insurance has tripled or quadrupled because of increasing wildfire risks, as KJZZ Phoenix reported.
Vivien Winneke, a homeowner and assessor for the Dewey-Humboldt Firewise community, knows how to protect her home from the risk of fires. This involves trimming trees and clearing out space between shrubs. However, even with her proactive measures, her insurance rates were just raised by over 300%.

"It was all fine until August, and then all of a sudden my renewal went up from $1,450 a year to $4,500," Winneke said. "That's more than my property taxes."

Increase insurance not just CA problem. Trump should do something.

Just opened auto insurance renewal....WTF!! It's like the whole family had separate accidents all at the same time. We are all driving less miles per year than ever.

The primary residence, rental, and all the cars are with the same provider. We used to get a large multi-policy discount. Need to start shopping around to see if we can do any better...

I keep increasing the deductible every year. Tesla is extremely high. Only if someone had told me of the high insurance, I wouldn't have bought a Tesla.

You're in CA. Why does this surprise you? From the photos I've seen, there are thousands of burned vehicles that your insurance company (with the help of your premium increase) will have to replace.

Need to start shopping around to see if we can do any better...

Good luck. Since your gov won't let insurance companies increase premiums to reflect the true risk for those in the high risk areas, everyone in CA gets to subsidize them. Also, because a lot of companies have either left or are writing no new policies, those companies that remain will soon have a bit of a monopoly and can name their price. Save up.

Increase insurance not just CA problem.

Pretty much limited to fire, earthquake and hurricane territory. My home insurance with 3 barns and all my farm equipment is $1,040 or so.

We had a tornado warning storm blow through this morning around 5am. I fully expect roofers to be banging on my door for the next few days offering "free roof inspections" despite the no soliciting sign on my door. It happens 2-4 times every spring.
