Intimidation....I Will Not Be Silenced

Again, the AMC can stop their behavior at any time if they don’t like what’s being said about them in public.

I have a few AMCs that I enjoy working for. I would never speak out against them. They are legitimate partners.

That’s a tortured analogy at best. But if that did happen, the response should be either “our panel membership is confidential” or “we do not have an active panel member by that name.” Problem solved.
Possibly the compliance dept, people obsessed with rule following, did not want to lie to their client.

Like 95% of what appraisers post here there's almost always more to the story and usually many details have been omitted from the real events that transpired.

“our panel membership is confidential” or “we do not have an active panel member by that name"

If these aren't lies:
1) Why do you think an AMCs panel roster is confidential to a lender who is supposed to oversee said AMC?
2) If he's not on their panel, why did he get a letter?

A lender has no right to access names of panel members that are not in their rotation, the names of appraisers who complete assignments for competing lenders should be confidential.

And it has been stated several times, the OP was not active on their panel and he has not completed work for them in years. Thus he is not an active panel member, and quite frankly Solidifi should do a better job of monitoring their panel. If they are so concerned about social media posts made by panel members about competitors, I would think they would be concerned about tracking an appraiser’s credentials.

At the center of this matter it would seem to be why did Solidifi care what this appraiser said about Clear Capital? :)
My thinking on it is the hyperbole he used in his posting coupled with him using his real name. And who knows? Maybe someone at one of these AMCs took personal offense at the use of that hyperbole.

If a member of the public is sensitive to the slavery and race-related issues and the trivialization of comparison to a voluntary business relationship that might add fuel to the fire if/when that appraiser later gets accused of acting with personal bias.

You can just imagine how the story unfolds with the race/social justice reporter at the Bay area TV station:
"We think this appraisal is biased. Why did this lender or this AMC engage this appraiser for this assignment when they know he has made such comments in public in relation to their business?"

A year later after HUD crawls through their investigation they might find nothing but by that time the damage to the lender's public image has already been done. The appraisal could be squeaky clean but the borrower still gets a free mortgage as a settlement to their complaint.

Lie of omission.
How? Any lender has access to the names of appraisers who are on their panel. If they are fishing for a name of an appraiser who does work for other lenders that’s none of their business. Simply stating “outside of your panel, our appraiser panel membership is confidential” is not a lie of any kind. And it’s good panel management.

Beyond the arguments, I agree with the OP: Solidifi does not have to do business with him. And I’ll add, if Solidifi was so concerned about compliance and panel management they would have removed him years ago for expired credentials. The letter is a show, whether it’s for the lawyers or appraisers is anyone’s guess.
