Is It Time To Revoke The Appraisal Foundation's Authority

Should the Appraisal Foundation's Private Authority over the Individual States be Revoked?

Ok, so better oversight. I would love some better management in a bunch of different areas. Revoke is such a strong word. Rehabilitation or redirection or guideance is better and we could all use some of that every now and then.

And according to some 'revoke" doesn't even apply to some issues being discussed here. Somebody has to have something before it can be revoked.

I would agree that an alternative structure would have to be put into place prior to dissolution. But at this point, with a strong regulatory state network in place, the responsibility could be shifted directly to them, perhaps?

I think I already mentioned this, but every couple years one of the states - usually a Southern state - puts forth the proposal to sunset the ASC, designate TAF as advisory and vest all authority with the states.

And yet, the ASC and their (apparent) staff of 13 employees continue to be.

I wish I could tell you the best way to structure it and you could run it up there. We could go together. :) Now, at my age and all I have been through, if I could set in the background while it was being decided, I could form a pretty good plan based on all the info that was disclosed during the planning stages. so what, right?

A big time consultant with an impeccable record and it needs to be a firm with many employees that has an impeccable record should be hired by the ASC. I will give them a week to decide then. No, 2 weeks. LOL

The many employees I may be off on, but it would keep one from being swayed too much. Maybe more than one firm sending their best consultants.

They need to have Dr in front of their names and their attorneys with them when they go to consult. I would prefer business and marketing backgrounds of the consultants and a long track record of successful consultations.

But beggars can't be choosy, I would take any consultant talking to the ASC right now as long as they had significant experience and weren't biased.

Start a fund.

I'll donate.

Mental illness might be a better background for the consultants. We may need at least one of those specialist there. LOL

That probably wasn't even funny, because it may be too true. I hope not. I really think some of it is due to lack of knowledge and direction that a consultant could provide.

Some of my family has mental illness so I know it is not funny. But I have seen what doctors can do along that line and it is remarkable and amazing. We are seeing the differences in those who get help and those who don't on the news quite frequently (not in my family though).

I think our profession has some mental illness when it comes to certain things.

NAR would definitely say we are crazy and after I talk to some of their members on a weekly basis, I think some of them are crazy. I luv em though.

On realtors behalf, I cannot tell you how many have told me the following (paraphrasing):

"I feel so sorry for ya'll".

You tell me. Does that sound like they think I need a
Psychiatrist

With many re agents at least they don't know what they are doing when it comes to appraisals. I don't know with many up the ladder with appraisers. The NAR knows a bunch more than many up the ladder with appraisers, or maybe it all goes back to structure.

Word of warning, if you say RE agents saying they feel sorry for appraisers is bad. "Be careful"

You better not call a NAR member stupid. You will get in trouble and I will report you. LOL

I'm kidding somewhat. They say to me personally quite frequently that they feel sorry for appraisers.

I have heard from the news that they don't play regarding their members. They protect their own.

I am an associate member, just not a licensed agent.

The difference with NAR and the appraisal profession is STRUCTURE.

Somebody, somewhere at the top has to be the end all. The big cheese, the buck stops here. That has to happen to help the matter. And they have to be approachable, or their assistants be approachable.
