Is Microsoft Stock Being Hurt by the Failure of Windows 11 to be Adopted?

You would already have most of this subscription services for your old computer.
True.... but that subscription is going to end LOL

I have Microsoft Office 2014 which is the last iteration where you install the program on your computer. I paid for it, that is it, no subscriptions or using it from "the cloud". When my version of Microsoft Office ceases to work, or if I need the use of this program going into retirement, I will turn to Libre office or some other free alternative.

In regards to new computers though, when manufacturers like Dell, HP, or Lenovo produces a new computer, they must pay Microsoft a fee to pre-install Windows on the device. This licensing fee is where Microsoft gets their bread buttered.

Big OEM providers have deals with MS to use their operating system, so they don't get charged as much and/or sometimes even get paid to pre-install windows. I know a guy at a startup similar to Framework (but more server/workstation oriented) and they were offered money to ship their pcs with windows.
If that is indeed happening, it kind of makes sense given how poorly Windows 10 and windows 11 have been received by the market. I guess you could let some manufacturers slide when you're worth is billions of dollars.

Not sure if it's Window 11 or new faster computer but I'm able to post much much faster and less freeze screens.

Yeah and giving it away kinda forces people into the ecosystem so they can make money elsewhere

I'm still using Windows 10. So how long do I have until the plug gets pulled?
There is something that you all can do about this "without" buying a new pc.

I did this very recommendation to my HP All-in-One 27-inch monitor i7, 16 GB ram, desktop PC. The windows 11 upgrade web page informed me that I was "not" eligible to upgrade due to being a 7th gen Intel processor. It's such a nice machine and it works so well that I could not see dumping it in a landfill. That said, paying for continued Windows 10 security updates to a billion dollar corporation wasn't floating my boat either.

Go to the website Fiverr... it's a global online marketplace for freelancers. Here you will find computer techs that will install and upgrade your non-upgradable Windows 10 machine to Windows 11. Cost is under $40 bucks.... you can pay with PayPal.

Here's the catch, and some of you may not like this..... you must let the tech into your computer via TeamViewer which lets the tech have complete control. Here's another problem you may have, my tech was from Pakistan LOL. He was a certified Microsoft tech and had great reviews so, it didn't bother me... he did a great job and my un upgradable machine is now running Windows 11 receiving all updates. I sat in front of my computer during the whole process and communicated and asked questions via TeamViewer..... it was awesome.

And who knows what else is running in the background or what they now have access to?

Never in a lifetime would I give full remote access to anyone online, ever.

Understood. This is not for everybody.

I think that it's funny that someone could be so guarded about their computer but let a random, non-licensed, uninsured person in their house to take a bunch of photos and measure it. This is not aimed at you in particular....l just find it interesting....

Fiverr has been around for many years, I've used them for computer repairs before allowing complete access. The Freelancers want to make money, not steal your data. Fiverr doesn't just have Freelancers that do computer repair, there's Freelancers that do graphic design, website development, voice over artists, video editing, resume writing, on and on.

Also, one must understand how TeamViewer works. It is only possible to access your computer if you share your TeamViewer ID and the associated random password with another person. Without knowing the ID and password, it is not possible to access your computer. If TeamViewer is set to random password every time it's logged on, there's no way someone can jump on whenever they like.

Anyways, I provided a solution and one can choose or not choose to use it. Do your research. My un-upgradable (per Microsoft), perfectly fine, Windows 10 computer, is now running Windows 11. No glitches, no freezing....no need to pay MS for Windows 10 updates....it's a great service.

Indefinitely. It will run or you can pay an annual fee. Or, do what a lot of folks including corporations are doing. Switch to a Linux based system. Some companies are using Chrome books for some tasks will running networks on Linux. A smaller number are on MacOS. MS is panicked over the lost of corporate customers more than they are over consumers.

The only reason updates are important are security updates. There isn't much chance you will run into a problem if you stick to your reliable links of the programs you use and avoid opening new links from unknown sources.
