Laser measurement tools

[NC Appraising]

Paperwork on my FatMax says it measures up to 100' at a typical accuracy of 1/4 inch. I've never used a Disto so I can't compare the two but my Fat Max seems to work pretty well.

One is a tue laser the other is a sonar.

There is a difference, both accuracy and money. Sonar sucks...

Go for the Bosch DLR165k laser measurer, if you need a laser - only $90. It measures out to 165'...plenty for residential. Disto is way too much money, imo. With the money you save, you can buy a mobile sketch software.

I'm sure you know, but just in case you're not aware, the Disto or Bosch is our back up. Most of us (who is not a wannabe appraiser) use the SRX5-K from Sokkia as our main measuring device.

I dont know if you realize but disto and fatmax and many others I bet are made by the same manufacturer which is "Leica". The only difference is a casing.

I've never used the Ryobi Tek, but the specs look good: 195' laser range...exceeds any residential property I've ever measured. I have the Bosch DL165K. I like it...except on long distances in bright light, it's hard to see the laser. Do those stylish red glasses help much?

The Sears and FatMax 100 only have class III lasers, while the Disto and Ryobi have stronger class II lasers.
