Greene and the surrounding counties. In my last post I stated that I was going to get fingerprinted. But before I went I contacted the commission and they told me that since I took the test before Aug of 2007 that I didnt have too. Which worked for me since I have gone my whole life trying to do the right thing and never needed to be fingerprinted before.

Then we are neighbors. I'm finding Springfield very slow right now. How is your office doing?

Pretty slow also, sure makes for a tight christmas! Maybe the phone will ring tommorow.

Don't be surprised if it is just me calling to see if the phones are working. :rof:

I'm actually working on one that I wish I never accepted. I turned it down twice before and just keep getting requests to do it. Since it is so slow I have more than enough time on my hands I figured what the heck. m2:

I heard Citi closed some more big pipes this week that will cut off funding to several banks.

It just keeps getting worse.m2:

Maybe we should all make a pact to fax each other once a week, just to make sure the machines still work.:rof:

I have been considering finding a part time job until this picks up, but I keep telling myself that it will pick up next week. (I know I shouldnt lie to myself) Does anyone have any good classes / or books they recommend.

Angela,

After my initial classes for license I found one of the most productive things I did was to really study USPAP. It is very important that you always have the current version and become profecient in undertanding how it affects your work.

Assuming your shop does a lot of appraisals for mortgage lending, the next best thing is to become proficient in the three main secondary market published guidelines. Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and FHA. Again, make sure you have the current version and keep up with their anouncements. The good news is that all of that stuff is free.

It is sometimes difficult for newbies to be clear on the differences between the various regulations and to sort out what is actually a reg versus your supervisor's personal policy. The better you know your stuff, the more valuable you will be to your supervisor.

There are a lot of extremely good classes and books. One of the most often quoted appraisal theory book is "The Appraisal of Real Estate", Twelfth Edition published by the Appraisal Institute. It is very comprehensive.

Hi everyone,
seems like this thread got quiet. I just wanted to let everyone know that I received my approval letter in the mail today!

Angela, that's great!

My phone has started ringing, here, but so far olny comp checks, LOL.
