ROFL....I guess by mentioning 'efax' we now have an efax banner.

Wonder what will happen if I say Obama obama obama obama obama

I got my fingerprints taken when I got my license in California. OP is a California trainee, did'nt you get fingerprinted. Also coach high school basketball for years, they required fingerprinting. I don't see anything wrong, unless you have something to hide.

25 years ago I got of all things a class "C" sewage treatment license in the State of Florida and had to provide a print card. I had to provide another for my Real Estate Salesmans license, my Brokers License and my Appraisal Certification. My ex worked at a day care for a while and had to submit a print card. If you have to do it to process sh*t and take care of kids, why not for taking care of peoples money.

George Orwell "1984" ...........lives on.

Thus the term...Orwellean! Colorado requires finger printing for all real estate brokers and mortgage brokers...but not appraisers. Go figure? Since I am broker ... had to be finger printed but then that was done for my secret clearance in the Air Force back in the 60s.

I just told a relo company to shove it. They want us to pay for a background check. I really wouldn't have minded so much except they still owe me for two appraisals and it's been a year now.

Nothing but basic due diligence. Pee test and background check should be required for any job where you deal with the public. This does not guarantee the public's safety, as many that commit crimes have no prior record. (no one ever involved in a publicized workplace shooting ever had anything but a misdemeanor criminal history) Also, many have made singular mistakes (some serious) and the fact that they have a record does not mean the public is any longer in danger. Background checks are just prudent business practice.

It seems to be working.

In California, mortgage BROKERS and their agents must have real estate licenses and, thus, are figerprinted. It has been that way for at least 45 years. Mortgage BANKERS and their agents, Banks and their loan officers are exempt.

This demonstrates that licensing and fingerprinting have no affect on morality or ethics. Also demonstrated is the lack of knowledge of these politicians. They should not sponser any laws in which they do not have an understanding of cause and affect. I have no objection to licensing on a national level, but for anyone to think it will cure any of the problems facing the industry or the economy is naive.

Morality cannot be legislated effectively. It might create some revenue and I think that is the goal of this group of politicians.

GO get 'em.

Sens. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.) and Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) authored a bill , the language merely “create national licensing and oversight standards for residential mortgage originators.”
One of the standards, John Berlau of the Competitive Enterprise Institute says, require thousands of individuals working even tangentially in the mortgage and real estate industries
This is a step in the wrong direction — at least for a nation that preserves freedom.
I say woohoo to this. Many states are requiring fingerprinting before licensure, Georgia & Florida do --basic background check for criminal activity.
This new bill could help hunt down the LOs who knowingly put together bad loans so they can get their nice commissions and head for the hills, borrower be dammed. And THAT is criminal!!!
