. WE ARE LOOKING FOR INSIGHT AND MY THOUGHT IS THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION .
There is no such thing as a dumb question, if you truly don't know the answer. Typing in all CAPS, however, is just plain rude. :)

Kim,

Don't get overheated yet. There will be plenty of time for that.

Actually typing in all capital letters conveys anger, frustration and in your case (the upper) it seems appropriate.

The guy with the hat used to type in caps ALOT I mean really ALOT. Then we all banded together and made him a better person.

Check this thread if you want: http://appraisersforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=12690#

Take care, tr

Kim, I agree with TR, settle down and settle in.

Watch out for that TC dude he has alot ah nerve throwin his weight around here, but thats his style with newbees. he has alot to offer though so dont completely ignore him.

Ok, I do apologize for the caps. I wasn't trying to be rude. I do want to thank all the experienced appraisers out there helping us trainee's along.

KIM (oppppppppppps) I mean Kim.

Kim... you misspelled oooops!

 Welcome to the forum.

(SHAME ON YOU, PAM ) ...........AS A TRAINEE....A NEWBIE......AN APPRAISER WANTTA BE........AN ETHICAL APPRAISER WANTTA BE....YOU OFFEND ME. DID IT EVER OCCUR TO YOU THAT WE MIGHT WANT ANOTHER PERSECTIVE....ANOTHER ANSWER........ANOTHER THOUGHT THAT MIGHT MAKE THINGS MORE CLEAR......PAM IT MIGHT BE BETTER IF YOU STAYED IN WITH YOUR PEERS AND NOT WITH US LITTLE PEOPLE.
Kim,

I agree there is no stupid question. And I am not trying to stick up for Pam because I know she hates that (she can stick up for herself) BUT, she is the moderator for this section of the forum. Still want her to butt out of this section? Well, she is ONE of the many people who is always there to help. She has excelent answers to almost any question asked.

I have thought back on her original post many times since she first posted about a month or two ago. I get frustrated too some times when the same question is asked. Although I'm sure I am guilty of this very offence. As appraisers we must research. We can't just get answers about a property we are doing by just asking someone elce to do it. That is just lazy. The Search feature should be used more.

Then what I have found useful is that if the exact question is not answered in your search, either go ahead and ask, or you can actually reply to that thread at the bottom and it will bring that thread back up to the top. This way people see what has been discussed before and can better answer your question.

I hope you stay with the forum. It's very usefull and the people are for the most part wonderful. I am addicted. Havn't missed a day since Aug. I wonder if I can claim hours for that towards my license.

Anyone have kids? Ever have to tell them the same thing over and over sometimes? Do they ever ask the same question over and over until you finally say "Because I said so!" .... that is all this has been about ..... we aren't kids ... we should try to help ourselves by taking advantage of the search functions and do a little thread research... then if we can't find it or aren't satisfied with what we found or want to know a little more,..... then ask away! No dumb questions ... hasn't been mentioned ... Pam never said it ..... Always ask, but look first .... Think about how many times you can listen to "Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" ... and then imagine how many times the senior members of this forum have heard ... How do I get in the business? How do I find a sponsor? What is USPAP? and so on...... That is all anyone is saying ..... try..... then ask ...... Not to much to ask .... at all.... ;)

And I'm not sticking up for Pam ...... even though she edits my posts ....

Guess many read just the first post and maybe a few more then post what they are thinking without reading all the way through. Sometimes, it's worthwhile to read a thread like this all the way through 2 or more times.

I've never said 'don't ask questions'.
I commend those with questions that they have tried to find answers to and need more information or clarification.

Kim, as I've stated before, It would take a really nasty personal attack to offend me. You did not offend me and I hope that you are no longer offended by my posts here.

I still learn every day that I read here and will be forever grateful to all those that ask the questions and post their experiences that have made me a much, much better appraiser now than I was yesterday, last month, last year, 4 years ago. I feel no need to apologize for my original post and I'm really glad this thread is still being read and responded to.

(The new search function here is wonderful!!!)

At first Pam's post seemed a little offensive. But she forced me to use the search function. What a great tool. I used it just now. Doing a tough land appraisal and couldn't remember the exact difference between excess land and surplus land. Just went to search and typed "excess surplus" and a few seconds later the exact answer I was looking for popped up and went into my report. Almost like having an instructor sitting right next to you. And much faster than asking the forum and having to wait for an answer.
