And how is an appraiser, stepping out of his car in a high crime area to ask strangers to please step aside so he can photograph a comp, any better prepared?

Obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit and carry a gun. Or as you appear to be so cautious, know your market before you get there and decline such assignments.

I know my market and many appraisals require work in high crime areas. There is no need to decline any assignment as I am doing my due diligence and am not required to exit my car and interact with neighbors or go onto private property.

Carrying a gun is an option, but what are you gonna do with it? You gonna get out of your car with it sticking out of your belt like John Wayne and approach neighbors wanting to talk about their home and photograph it?

Delta.....Girl, I feel your pain on the remarks. This site is not for the squimish and is most certainly not female-friendly. The "cupcake" remark alone should've been cause for banning.

While I agree remarks like the cupcake one and the girl scout comment are pretty childish if anyone gets banned on this forum I'd want it to be that AMC Doc Manhattan guy.

And for the record I'm a guy.

No, I am more professional and educated than to do something like you indicate.

I do not understand why you want to be so argumentive.

I think this thread has become a game to you and I decline to play any more with you.

Good luck and be safe.

Dear Kim,

Welcome to the forum!

The best compliment anyone can pay you in this venue is to give you as good as they get. IOW, to treat you as an equal.

Delta's a big girl, trust me, she can take it.

PS. It would be wrong to ban Delta for being a cupcake.

You know I'm a guy. But by all means continue with this high school level snickering and low class backwards insults.

How ironic that you feel this is a game to me and yet you have no problem with the middle school level insults and immature banter being directed at me and at my expense.

I'm not being argumentative. I'm trying to understand how some can advocate borderline illegal activity to get comp photos or can't understand, or at least admit, that some areas deserve more caution than others and that even cops don't walk a beat in some of these areas without backup let alone some dorky appraiser trying to get a picture.

Nobody is forcing you to participate in the thread.

Jonathan ``Bumpy'' Clark, 45, of Aberdeen Street was charged Sept. 28 with felonious assault, robbery, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. ``Bumpy,'' also known as ``Chicago,'' allegedly punched an appraiser from Countrywide Mortgage. The appraiser fell on the sidewalk, broke his arm and dislocated his left shoulder. Earlier that day, police said, Clark robbed and threatened to kill an Edward Avenue man, 37. When police saw him, he ran and fought police before being handcuffed, officers saod.

According to Monsters & Critics, Spice Girl Mel B is being sued by a real estate appraiser who claims he was assaulted while trying to take property photos outside her LA home.

Amada Aguirre says Scary Spice – real name Melanie Brown – urged her husband Stephen Belafonte and an employee to confront him after mistaking him for a paparazzi.
He has filed a lawsuit alleging assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence. Aguirre had been hired to appraise a home in Mel B’s Tarzana neighborhood and on December 18 was looking for properties of similar value to the one he was evaluating.

Court papers say he parked in front of Mel B’s driveway but did not realize the home belonged to a celebrity.

Hey, I thought so, but then again, maybe Kim had some inside info.

So what's your point? Crime happens? I live in a nice neighborhood and had the window shot out of my Subaru 10 years back. I moved to an even nicer street two blocks away and within two weeks someone tried to break into the house.

If I lived life by your code, I wouldn't get out of bed without Kevlar underwear and full body armor.
