Restaurant Reset

Looking at the vid earlier in this thread I better go back and check my receipt to make sure my tip was accurate
You must have gotten the Mega Kid Size drink in a special plastic Dave & Buster cup.

Cafes are not serving $30-50 a pound gourmet coffee. Few pay more than $20/lb and I suspect most are paying much less than that. Sam's 8 O'Clock coffee is about $9/lb. Few cafes will serve better coffee and 8 O'clock is supposed to be 100% Arabica coffee from Columbia...whether hulls, cracked beans or whatever, I bet it is still the cheapest beans Sam's buyers can source.

When I was in Columbia (or was that in Costa Rica), I learned that they send their best coffee out and drink inferior ones at home. How patriotic.

OTOH, I doubt many of us can actually tell the difference in a 100% top grade Arabica coffee and a 90% Arabica from broken beans cut with 10% Robusta coffee if both are brewed in exactly the same pot.

I have a 4 cup coffee maker I use for myself. I used to have a 6 cup one when I had an assistant. She drank most of it. The 4 cup is a max buzz for me and I put it in a thermos and drink a couple in the morning and the rest after noon. I have a 32 cup coffee pot and it doesn't take a full pound of coffee. Does a pretty decent job. I also drink tea and tea is probably even less 100% tea leaves than coffee is pure coffee.

I was an idiot and ordered a Coke with my meal at Dave & Buster's last Monday and it cost $4.59 if you can believe that ****.

I'm seeing that more and more to the point of just drinking water. That Coke costs them about 20 cents.

Coke is not good for you even at 20 cents.
you shouldn't snort it. That's the wrong stuff. :)

Actually like coffee, tea, whiskey, beer and soda, "Coke" in moderation is not going to hurt anyone. Sugary drinks are not for diabetics but even then, it's the dose that makes the poison. Drink 3 gallons of water and you will die.

Just recently, the wife wanted to get away from "microplastics" as well as black plastic. Not only does the coffee leach microplastics into your drink, the dye utilized to color the plastic black, is toxic and nor that good for you either. Go ahead and let the black plastic jokes fly.

The solution? A ceramic pour over coffee dripper and a glass carafe kettle to boil water. Best coffee I've ever made when the correct technique is employed.
