For those interested in staff appraiser positions, RSDS (rsds.com) is hiring what looks to be nationwide.

However, if this is same company that tried to recruit me last week, here is the bad news

First problem is "You can make $90k a year if you complete 9 appraisals a week...". Grammar school math tells me that is $193 per report. I don't know if that varies by region. We are over-saturated in the PHX area. Second, I have been doing this for 22+ years and I can't do 9 a week including driving all the comps and verifying transactions and motivations with the realtors as expected by the GSEs snd USPAP. Third is that they want to do the scheduling for you. I tried that about 15 years ago and the AMC would schedule inspections cross Phoenix during rush hours traffic. A 35 min drive would be 2+ hours.

This may work in different regions. YMMV

Sorry that is rsdsllc.com

Would one be an employee or IC? Do they guarantee 9 appraisals a week. Do they pay for your E&O, MLS subscriptions, car insurance, CE and appraisal license renewal fees? :)

I dunno.....at $190 per report it is above my pay grade.

I am an old-timer. 34 years ago I was getting $210/report with w2 status. No way will I take orders from a “boss” who’s birth year begins with a 2!

When someone starts advertising paying for everything except a decent wage, you're getting screwed. I don't care about who pays for MLS or E&O. 9 a week should be pushing 200k gross to the appraiser. That's on the low end. Paying for your $600 E&O and $1200 MLS/realtor dues doesn't mean ****. 5 days vacation? big deal. ****ty 401k that you have to be there 12 months before they kick in their 3%? No thanks, 90% of the employees don't make it 12 months. Where's the other 110k going to?

I have 23-26 yr old nieces and nephews just out of college making 80-100k. 90k isn't a professional wage.

Appraisal mills used to be looked down upon in this profession, and for good reason. Now I see the clowns that run these companies sitting on panels with the same gov't agencies that should be seriously questioning their business model.
