The Appraisal Foundation And AI At It Again.

They're apparently selling (or "licensing") course packages for educators to resell to students.

The way I read it my take is that if I ran a school and bought their course I could teach it to my students. They might even have a per-head licensing agreement, similar to charging $10/head for use of the course and course materials.

It looks (TO ME) like they're selling CE courses on the wholesale basis, possibly based on intellectual development that previously occurred at their sponsors.

I'm not an AI-fanboi and I don't teach anymore so I don't have a dog in this hunt, but it still doesn't look very fair to me.

I heard the dispute between AI and AF described as having 3 main components:

1. AF insisting that any comment/testimony to Congress by AI receive prior approval from AF;
2. AI objecting to AF becoming an "education provider" either directly or indirectly; and
3. AI objecting to the APB because of the fear that "APB approved" methodologies will become the only "approved" methodologies as far as courts/states are concerned.

Having watched AIREA walk away from NAR over similar "speech" issues, I don't think there will a reconciliation anytime soon.

Don't know and don't care.
But you do care that "factsandtruth" doesn't like their business model.

Still batting a thousand on the wrong side of every issue. That's why you're not on ignore.

Couldn't care what factsandtruth, you, or Marion like or don't. You are irrelevant!!

Actually it's not his opinion on the business model but rather his ignorance thereof. Much like you on most topics!:rof:

If you would follow the thread, it is actually you who don't know nor care about their business model. That would make you the ignorant one. Again.

I understand that it may be difficult to see the font from on high, but try to follow the thread as best you can.

Perhaps a clue will eventually fall into your lap. You clearly won't go looking for one given your deep ignorance. You have no clue as to what the AI is about.

Proof of the cluelessness rests in referring to the "business model" of a professional organization. I suppose only a professional would understand.

How many ways are there to wire a house? Plumb a bathroom? Tile a floor? Prepare a financial statement? Tune up a high performance car? Design a database? Should I go on?

It "could" be possible that the vast majority of what we do can be mastered. Please don't give me the old song and dance on how you never stop learning. It only makes you look like an idiot thinking that everyone else is an idiot.

What I do is not easy, but then again, it certainly can be mastered in a decade. Yep, a flippin decade. That's plenty long enough to get a "masters" degree in any one of many disciplines, so it should be long enough for us too. I do happen to know several master plumbers and electricians, and they are very talented people, but I wouldn't consider them on a genius level. They make a lot more money than I do, and work a lot less, and enjoy their profession, too. So, that puts me where, on the evolutionary scale? (Hint - this is a set up for a cheap shot - take it and then pat yourself of the back.)

So, with all of that said, what is is that the AI does, exactly, that isn't self serving selling books, courses, and designations? Oh, their lobbyist that I've heard about? How about results? That should narrow the field to just a few words. Since nobody will likely be able to come up with a satisfactory reply, let me supply a sample one for you; "if you don't join a professional organization of your peers, there is no way for you to have any effect or voice in your profession, much less understand what it is they are about." Good answer, you're welcome. I don't see much of a voice, no effects that could be measured or even considered positive, and not even much respect.

I answered my own question - thank me, and you're welcome. Again.
